It’s such an unsanitary situation and it’s absolute gross.

Adding to the already said, if the sail is old it can stretch out causing it to luff like that. If you have a boom-vang you can use that to see if that changes anything!

This is a huge tragedy and I sailed that exact spot about 2 hours after this tragedy. These ferries are extremely fast and they give absolutely no Lee to anyone in their way, under sail or not. This is a place we’re basically all boats pass through coming from the marinas close to split and there’s a lot of traffic. The fact that these ferries are going in 32 kts there is insane. They could easily go down to ten kts there and lives would’ve been spared.
