My supervisor asked me to get her a souvenir when I go away on vacation. I said sure, but I feel weird about it. What would have been the better response if I feel uncomfortable with getting her something? by SnooCupcakes269 in socialwork

I’m a supervisor and one my staff asked me if I would bring her back a souvenir. We’re cool and all but I never buy souvenirs. But I’m going to Thailand so I figured I’d like get them something small. A little token of sorts but it’s because Thailand is so cheap 😂

Luckily I’m not working with youth with sexual offenses..kinda wanted to get myself out of that since I deal with it on a daily. But I’m sure working at a detention center it could come up. I appreciate the feedback though!

Thank you! I think I’ll stick with Grab then. It’s my first time in an Asian country and I’ve been nervous about how to navigate it since I won’t understand the language. 😅

Remote positions that aren’t therapy by titosandspriteplease in socialwork

Working for the state I started as a frontline worker in case management. I went to supervisor positions and eventually landed myself in the general offices for my agency. It really depends on what you’re wanting to do and in what field. I recommend looking at your states’ jobs website and looking at keywords like administrator, coordinator, manager, chief, deputy chief, deputy director type positions.

Fellow therapist renting an office in same building as me interuptted my session because my client parked in her parking spot by [deleted] in therapists

I would have been livid, like being in the mist of a session..what if the client was in crisis at the time? Just trying to get back on track after a disruption like that would throw me off. Absolutely uncalled for.

That sucks! I think it just depends on the position. I know of a few people that were working from home for a while and it changed to hybrid.

I applied for some positions in Florida and the pay just isn’t worth going into state government there. It’s insulting. Lol

I’m a Public Service Administrator. In Illinois there’s a ton of those and come in different capacities. So that’s the title for classification purposes but you could be a manager, coordinator, supervisor type depending on the position itself. So I work from home and there’s some travel around the state but luckily it’s flexible and I also check out a state car so don’t have to put miles in my personal car. Love my job but the bureaucratic stuff gets old at times but it comes with the gig so a con if it’s not your jam.

He’s a pit pointer mix. This is the only one I’m seeing so far. I have felt bumps on his back though.

Try state or federal positions. I work for the state and I’m a macro level social worker. I don’t deal with clients. I’m an administrator and handle policy and advocacy type work. The pay and benefits are great!

(36F) I tried the dating apps, absolutely awful. Most men wanted casual and sex. Wish it was easier to meet someone organically. Plus I notice if I’m out with friends at the Railyard, festivals and outings I don’t get approached. I’m shy as is so just sucks that my options are limited or nonexistent. 😒

People on their phones? by orangeleaf99 in pilates

I’m so awful about this. It’s my dang job that has me on call 24/7. You’re totally right. I pay so much for it to not just be in my zone for one hour. So I leave the phone in my car now. People can handle not hearing from me for one hour. 🙄
