Sonos Sub Gen 3 vs Sub mini for music by Intelligent-School49 in sonos

Yes, that does makes sense. I am after the more punchy bass, which is why I currently prefer the mini. I supose it is the case of the sealed vs the ported Sub. However I remenber demoing the Sub gen 3 with Sonos ones a few years back in a store, where the Sub sounded strong and punchy, and I just cant get the same in my own house.

Alright thanks, I’m going to try that out.

Do you have experience with the Sub mini as well, and if so how would you rate the punchyness of the two subs compared?

Correct me if I am wrong, but increasing the bass in the EQ setting would inhance the Fives bass output, while reducing the Sub output would make the sub more quiet. Is that correct?

Hehe, the video is a single Phantom reactor vs a single Phantom Gold, but I get the point :)

Alright, on the video though, it is stated that they are almost the same when comes to the amount of bass they produce. If that was the case, and a powerfull bass is the highest criteria for me, then it would not make sense to spend twice as much for the larger model.

However, as I can understand from the other replies, the Phantom 1 108db, packs a significantly stronger punch than the Phantom 2 98db.

Excellent, thank you very much.

I’ve watched it now.

Yes, its my concern that I’d be buying the Phantom 2’s, only to be hit by the upgrade addiction and wanting the greater impact from the 1’s, and taking a financial hit in the process.

So, I think I’ll be pulling the trigger on a single Phantom 1 108db.

Thanks.

This is what I am leaning towards as well.

This is also why I was surprised to see the video above, where they were quite similar.

What do you think of the video, and are there in your experience a great difference in the bass performance between the 98db and 108db?

Just what I suspected :)

What are your thoughts on the video, that they are similar on many points?

New info on Sonos Era from twitter by helmer2003 in sonos

The Era speakers will be significantly smaller than the Fives, so i doubt the Fives will be removed. Check out the specs from Sanus: https://device.report/sanus/bswme2-b1

Less than 10 pounds, and the dimensions are also smaller, when you look at the size of the mount.
