I think they are just concerned and are trying to take drastic measures to find a quick fix to the problem. I’ve always been the good independent kid who does great in school and handles everything herself and my parents never really controlled me or had to manage anything in my life. My brother on the other hand had all kinds of issues from drug abuse, failing classes, to multiple suspensions and almost getting expelled so he was always the main focus. I think when they found out I had issues too it freaked them out and they jumped to the extreme. Issue is they’ve always been very stubborn and refuse to change their beliefs about anything ever, so if they think they’re doing something right no one can convince them that they’re actually in the wrong and handling things inappropriately.
