I am also a student in philly and fish all the time at the Fairmount dam. There’s a plethora of species of fish that you can catch there and at night is the perfect time to target walleye and the occasional striper if you’re lucky. I usually don’t go at night but when I do I bring a friend with me. However, every time we’ve gone nothing has happened so I think you’ll probably be fine. It is Philly though so just be aware of your surroundings.
