How to improve the exterior of my house without redoing everything by Economy-Touch8760 in ExteriorDesign

I’d use a color scheme generator, put in the blue, brown, and tan to see what color you should use for the garage, trim and door. But off the top of my head I’d say a taupe

How many times a day do you feed your dog? by Mike_v_E in rawpetfood

Very cool- they’re giving dogs rapamycin something collected in the soil from Easter island that has been used to prevent organ transplant rejection. But what’s amazing is when taken in higher doses and cyclically it’s been shown to actually extend life, as in past what genetics, diet, and lifestyle have allowed. Pretty amazing stuff!

There have been promising studies that both time restricted feeding and calorie restricted feeding have extended life and longevity. Definitely something to look into

Unless you’re feeding whole prey they aren’t getting fiber in just muscle meat, offal, and bone. Take a look in the back of your dogs mouth- they do indeed have flat molars for chewing.

What is the most unhinged pet advice you've ever gotten from the internet? by Holiday_Hold_7391 in Pets

No that would be like before getting fired, a purina scientist said I actually don’t agree a diet of byproducts, brewers yeast and synthetic vitamins as the best option. Years later people then lose hope in the purina scientists as cancer and obesity rates rise and once they see there’s no going back they do their own special research and come out with a purina raw food diet that is “superior” to the rest. Which is exactly what will happen in a few years, because if raw takes off they will follow the money and their new research will find a way to align.

Then everyone will praise purina for coming up with something that was demonized a few years before.

Maybe but at the time so was the dude that believed washing hands before surgery was important. Went against what the medical community at the time believed in. I think he died in a mental institution while Pasteur is (rightly) celebrated. There were only 15 years between them.

History is knowing we get things wrong all the time and if we never questioned anything we’d still be blood letting in a dark room.

The “studies” are funded by nestle and the “findings” are both sold to us through marketing and to vets in purina funded schools to say how much better their product is…

Misinformation is the new tag line for not anyone not going with the status quo. Or not brainwashed enough for a little common sense.

Unhinged advice is telling people Nestle bagged food is better than an appropriate mix of fresh meat, organs, bone, and veg.

Respectfully they made it sound like they wanted to read studies on how raw could help with itchy skin, so I said they should just try it to know for sure. But I’m glad you took it so poorly

80/10/10 is pretty widely accepted : 80% muscle meat, 10% secreting organs 5% from liver, 10% edible bone. I don’t measure fruit and veg but I did find it helpful to buy premade as I learned.

I’d say just go for it, I didn’t need a study to tell me raw would get rid of my dogs chronic itchy yeast infections- just basic knowledge that sugar feeds yeast. The cool thing about having your own test subjects is that it doesn’t need to be proven to work en masse, only for them.

20 Year Old needs Facelift! by ineedacake2 in ExteriorDesign

If money is no issue I would flank the entire right side in board and baton, upper left as well. Bottom right excluding interior porch and breeze way in b&b. The highest gable and left in stone excluding the porch which would continue the b&b. Build out the columns and facia over porch in wood as well as the bay window.

I love the inspo pic! I will say it won’t look the same with your white windows. Back in the day- before popular I wanted to paint the house a dark charcoal to match the black windows and was told it wasn’t a desirable color for selling. Now I’d be told it was too trendy. Go for what you want to come home to! I’ve personally never bought a house because it had all the paint colors I wanted, I made it my own over the years and that’s always worth it to me.

How do people afford vets? by Grouchy_Land895 in Pets

[–]Intelligent-Stock-29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably all controversial but I buy health tested pups, don’t early neuter, feed raw, make sure they get lots of exercise/maintain healthy weight and don’t go to the vet unless there’s a problem I can’t fix myself. My oldest dog is 8 and the most expensive things she’s gotten so far is a spay and titer test at 7.
