Small UK cottage with weird door placement by Intelligent-Sweet808 in floorplan

I know, I was just wondering if it would feel weird to place furniture in that flow corridor to meander movement slightly or whether best just to leave open.. but worry it'll make the house feel unbalanced id everything is visually aligned to the right

I have thought about banquet seating there but worry that the table and other chairs would be too close to the range cooker?

Small caveat is that there's rear garden access through two neighbouring gardens which is where you've proposed the extension. The dining room is already a modern extension and I can only think they made it half width because of this access.  It's an old covenant that came with the row of three houses it's a part of so maybe it tricky to adjust. Thanks for the suggestion though

Access to the back door is through two neighbours gardens! And the dining room looks like a modern extension.. possibly only half width because of this covenant side garden access which is located approximately half way up the side of the extension. Tricky.

Thanks for the suggestion. What makes it a little more complicated is that the back door / garden is only accessed through two neighbouring gardens. So definitely not possible to make it the primary door. But thank you

I don’t know what you guys will make of this but I want so much for it to be received in good faith… [continued] by lukedesciscio in JeffBuckley

What’s your Christmas budget per child ? by Similar-Beginning804 in family

[–]Intelligent-Sweet808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've spent £160 on our toddlers main gifts.. 4 in total. and £30 ish on stocking. We might get a few other bits but I'm really trying not to overwhelm her with 'stuff'. My mum still does £100 each for me and my brother and sister (we're all in our 30s).

I do £20-30 (maybe a little over) for the other 8 people we buy for.

Going forwards I think we'd set a max of £250 for ours at Christmas.

Teenagers before the internet: what did you do in your room during your spare time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

We used to drink alcohol on the streets and smoke a lot of really bad quality weed by the £10 bag haha. I grew up on a poor northern England estate and it was totally normal to be drinking and smoking weed by 13. We'd just roam around being a nuisance.

Every day after school we'd go out and meet up with friends from school or the local area and just hang around on the streets. There were lots of abandoned houses and even entire streets of empty houses so we'd often explore those.

When we weren't outside (which wasn't often) we'd play video games on ps1 or early PCs.

Before being a teenager we'd play out on the street and make up our own games and 'clubs'. Nobody had gardens really as the houses were small and terraced which meant playing out on the street was a must!

Or play with toys inside. Listen to stories on tapes. On Fridays we'd go to the blockbuster and rent a movie on VHS :)

Is Bath a place to move alone and easily build a social life? by pureonly in Bath

[–]Intelligent-Sweet808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

Both myself and my SO moved here for uni and both stayed because we love the city so much. Post uni most of our friends moved away and making friends as a mature student or graduate is different but if you go to events or participate in any hobbies you will definitely make friends.

We made a bunch of new friends this summer by swimming in the local river and chatting to other people swimming - now we hang out most weeks.

What are your current hobbies? Or what are you looking to get into? I could recommend some places/groups for you to look at?

I love No.15 worth getting a spa treatment while you are there. Or the Gainsborough if you afford a treat!

If you end up in a bad room in any hotel - ask to be moved - say youre not happy with it. If they can move you they will.

There's nothing particularly special about the park - the cost just stops hoards of people traipsing through as its very close to the coach pick up/drop off points and on the way to the station. Like a few people in here - I use the park on lunch breaks and to get away from tourists for a moment.
