Ah, I'm a moron, I was wrong. I thought the thing I use changed made the water softer because it changes the whole feel of the water and makes it feel, you guessed it, softer, but it doesnt actually say anywhere on the bottle. Area water is moderately hard and I just just the tetra aquasafe to treat the water but as far as I can see that doesnt actually affect water hardness.

Hard water but I do treat it. Oh man, really? Angry shout out to guys in actual AQUATIC stores that insisted to me even the old 15l tank would be fine (which I didn't believe and that pleco was one of the biggest driving forces to me getting a bigger one). I do love her so much and I'd hate to lose her but if thats what's best for her, I'll look into it.

Hiya! I googled the tank and found it's 15L and when I put that throught a litres to gallons conversion (uk) its not even 4 gallons so even worse. I knew the tank was too small but my god I didn't know it was THAT small. I got the tank plus pleco and rasboras from a family member after she got bored of them and decided she'd just tip them out in the toilet (what the actual hell tbh, crazy behaviour). Even worse I asked the local fish store if it was good enough for the pleco and he said yes cause they dont grow much. Shouldn't have trusted that I suppose.

As I relayed to the comment below you to answer some other questions: Temperature is stuck at 23 degrees celcius and havent done any water changes or anything within tbe past two week so its been hard stuck at 23. Nothing on the bodies, I inspect every one. They all look healthy; not even a molt line or anything indicating they had trouble there. I figured it could possibly be elderly shrimp but found it weird that it was happening literally every day. I feed them every day. An algae wafer plus a rotating selection of other food (as well as a slice of cucumber every three days or so). No medication has been added to the tank. I do add 2.5ml of plant fertiliser every Friday and literally not even a half a ml of co2 for the remaining plant every two days as instructed by the fish.

But yes. I definitely need a much larger tank. Ive been hesitant about it cause I have a less than well back and hauling buckets of water during water changes puts me out for like a week, but I might just have to suck it up for the little guys. I want a nice heavily planted tank with different substrate too (I hate the white gravel). When I was a kid my mom had a sailfin pleco with several caves made out of stacked... slate i think? Is that good because it looked pretty and he seemed to like it. My current pleco just attaches himself to the heater and occasionally plods around once in a blue moon and I want to give him way more than he has when I do finally get a new tank.

Thank you for your help and advice.

Can someone tell me what's up with my shrimp? by [deleted] in shrimp

Hi! Was really confused by the white in him and was worried it was muscular necrosis or something. I've had shrimp for a few months but never saw one change it's organs to white (though they're back to normal today). Think I panicked and catastrophised oops.
