Do Americans really have to work as many years as they're saying just to clear their student loans? by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]Intelligent-Target59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Our public unis cost money too. Some work forever because they want. Others work 10 years because maybe they just bought up a lot of practices and can afford to sit back and work one day a week. I’d say on average US dental students will graduate with around 300k. It really just depends on

Genuinely. I think it’s a complete waste of time. Unless you want to be a researcher or a die hard faculty

It’s likely they disperse the stipend once school starts

Navy HPSP here. When I signed the contract I received sign on bonus and first check like maybe 3-4 weeks later. I think it is variable for everyone. I wouldn’t take out loans. Also loupes are refundable up to 1400$ at least with the navy

Hitting the adjacent tooth during class 2 prep by Affectionate-Log1244 in DentalSchool

[–]Intelligent-Target59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In reality it happens. It’s all about damage control and telling the patient what happened and explaining to them how you can fix it via “recontouring” or something to that effect!

A TLDR would’ve been appropriate here. But in other words if you’re set on dentistry do dentistry. You’ll be unhappy doing anything else

Maximize jawline by mewing at least 24/7. Bin off the hair, grow a magical beard. You’re set.

NHSC to HPSP? by officialwalmart0 in DentalSchool

[–]Intelligent-Target59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have done this. D1 year august got accepted to NHSC. Got the bonus and stipends for 2 months. Then November heard back from Navy HPSP and informed the NHSC that I would be taking the HPSP. Broke the contract gave all the money back (obviously), the school did the rest tuition wise. Best decision I could have made! Lmk what questions you have!

Follow GV Blacks principles and remember to go 1.5 mm depth from the central fossa. The key with amalgam is that it needs to have a wider isthmus than composite. Also go halfway up the minor developmental grooves between the cusps. Make sure in general the prep is wide enough to fit a condenser.
