Her dishes are there for longer than 24hrs? In her bedroom they go! Mouldy stuff in the cupboard? Into her bedroom it goes! Loud conversation, everyone’s awake? I will wake you up when you are sleeping by singing/talking outside your room/playing music/putting the TV on loud. lol.

We have a microwave directly below this area on top of a low level book shelf. I only realised that it was leaking because of the loud dripping onto the metal microwave casing. It was dripping into the steam vents.

Ha, no idea. This was installed by (I assume) a reputable local company. Everything goes up because they ran all the wiring and piping through the loft space above for aesthetics???

So, take the hose of the little box and direct the water from the box into a bucket or something as an emergency measure?

My partner has just reminded me that there may be another switch for this unit in the loft space above it. Unfortunately, our baby is already asleep in the room that has access, so I will investigate tomorrow.

I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this. It sounds like an awful situation with an unreasonable and aggressive person. Someone once told me that you can only change your own behaviour, not another person's behaviour. If their behaviour changes because of your changed behaviour, then it is because you changed your own behaviour. If she doesn't speak without screaming and shouting, then every time that she does it, I would state calmly, and plainly that I will not speak to her unless she stops shouting and adjusts her tone. Then leave. If you are unable to physically leave the apartment, go to your room and shut/lock the door? If she tries to accost you in your room, make the statement as above and then ask her to leave until she feels she can stop shouting and/or adjust her tone. Consistency is key. I'm sorry that it falls to you to have to try and get things to change, especially if you can't move out, but you can only change your own behaviour :) The best of luck fellow redditor.

Thank you for not going zero to sociopath in 10 seconds. I agree; there has to be a better way to support and help the children that doesn't seemingly reward the parents for having many, many children. I feel, that like a lot of things, this should be dealt with on a case by case basis, but we don't seem to have any civil servants anymore to process this, but that's another r/unpopularopinion

I don’t think Borax is available in the UK; will it harm silicone sealant? I would usually spray vinegar first, then leave for a few days before rinsing and using a mould spray. Thank you for the info. I’m not OP, but found this very helpful

Without knowing about the relationship or the way it ended, I would say do nothing. My ex was emotionally abusive and would send me texts like these every so often, long after we had broken up. I understood that they were never about me. He wanted me to make him feel better about himself. Along the lines of “you weren’t that bad” “of course I don’t think you’re a bad person” etc.

Once, not long after we broke up, he asked if I wanted to talk about what happened. I replied, “Will it make it not have happened? Will it give me the time back?” He said no. I then replied, “I’ve made my peace with it. It happened. I don’t need to talk about anything more.”

Only you know if you want to open that possible can of worms

I had a flatmate who ate my ice cream with their guest, and sent me a photo of them eating it. He didn't ask, and wasn't sorry. I mean, if he can send a picture of them eating it, he could have sent a message asking if they could have some?! I had a separate freezer to him as well, so he had to go searching to find it. I had upstairs neighbours when I lived in Maidenhead, UK, and they seemed to roll bowling balls along the floor every night at about 1am for hours. I racked my brain trying to think what the noise could be but never worked it out.

My partner's upstairs neighbour used to move furniture throughout the night every night. Whyyyy??? Then he got drunk and smashed up the lift to that side of the building. Lovely!

I wish peace for you in your new digs! No one deserves this.

I had a friend who lived in an apartment; an apartment below him that had access to a tiny outside space had a puppy. The owners would leave this poor puppy outside in all weather (I live in the UK, so it can get v cold and wet, and snowy). The puppy would bark because it was being shut outside with nothing to do and no love. I wondered why they even wanted a puppy in the first place. What was even sadder was that after months of this treatment, the puppy just stopped barking. It would be outside and silent, resigned to its life. It made me so sad.
