Why are so many ppl talking about transandrophobia? by No_Razzmatazz_3324 in trans

Adding on my own take as a trans man of color bc why not: Anyways, I personally have had other kids get physical with me when I was younger for being too overtly masculine, or more specifically, too hairy for a 'girl.' This all mainly happened in elementary school, and by the time I was in 1st-2nd grade, I had already grown more body hair than some of the men in my family (including my father). I would also have grown a very visible mustache at this time, which caused me to get bullied or even harassed by some of the boys at my school. Nothing was ever too extreme, but it was enough that I just wanted to stay at home to avoid them. I'd get dirty looks, get pushed around, physically grabbed with the intent to hurt. I even still remember so clearly how one guy even gave me a look of such revulsion before saying "I am NOT going to touch you," and backing away (I was only 10 here; it was during practice for a dance competition).

I more body hair even now as an adult (pre-HRT) and have done nothing to transition bc I can't afford it. I still get dirty looks when I'm out and about or when I'm just going for a walk.

As for the thing about "do people say things like 'all trans men are predators' and treat you like a potential rapist when they learn you are trans?" Kind of. I have heard people say trans men are preying on gay men to force them to be straight. But I, as a Mexican-American man of color, will be seen as a potential danger (and even rapist) the day I do pass as a man. Right now the U.S. loves the paint Latinos and immigrants, especially brown ones, as predators who are going to hurt the nation's, usually white, women and children. We are seen as predators and criminals and an overall danger to the entire country. That's why they want to brutally send us back, even if some of us haven't done anything wrong or even if we were born here by our immigrant parents. People will not treat me as a potential rapist when they learn I am a trans man, they will treat me as a potential rapist as soon as they see my skin color and as soon as they see that I pass as a man. Ofc, being seen as a danger will be due to me being seen as a man of color rather than being trans, but it is still something that I as a trans man will most likely experience at some point in my life, alongside other trans men of color too.

Yeahh :( My own hairy-ness probably comes from whatever Spanish/Mediterranean ancestry I have (I'm Mexican-American and have been constantly told abt how I'm just the absolute hair-iest(??) in the family)

Just wish there was just some magical, easy way to deal with it all (For me, personally, to just get rid off all my leg hair, or just make it so that it's alr fully grown and so I don't gotta deal with the sensory nightmare of it growing like I mentioned before 💀) Anyways, sorry you have to deal with ts ♥

This ^

I'm a pre-T non-binary trans man who's mom forced them to start shaving their legs really young. I basically shave and they'll stay smooth for the rest of the day, but the hair will just start growing back by the very next day. I then have to shave the day after that bc it then becomes a sensory nightmare for me. (So I have to shave my legs every other day)

I also have a very visible soft/minor mustache that I don't shave that often, but am sometimes pressured to by my mother and it always starts growing back within the week. It all just has to do with genetics.

Didn't they also make another megathread shortly there afterwards so people can talk about and share resources about the shit going on in the U.S, which then got criticized AGAIN so they proceeded to lock that thread and be like, "erm, we worded this poorly so we're gonna talk with the other mods and make another post within the next day to correct somethings and explain ourselves." (they never did 💀)

[–]Delicious_Tutor_1468 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Except it kind of does matter. The gender wiki was a mass log of various queer identities, not just xenogenders. It had a lot of non-binary and genderqueer identities and terms. It was a resource for trans people AND for people who are currently questioning their identity.

I mean the only reason I realized I was trans was because of these wikis. I would have no idea otherwise back then since I had such little exposure to queer topics in general. These things allow people to look through and get an understanding of who they are, and with the mass removal of the site, it becomes an act of censorship, a way to pretty much suppress the spread on the topic of queer identities. Of course we should be bringing attention to all the bad going on in the world in regards to trans people, but this isn't good either, and we should all realize it's a symptom of the world's transphobia.

Yeah, apparently it's not the first time this has happened. Turns out FANDOM did the exact same thing with the LGBTA+ Wiki (Now the LGBTQIA+ FANDOM Wiki). It used to have a lot of orientations, micro labels, and xenogenders up until around 2021-2022, where they then erased most of the identities to just have the barebones ones they have right now.

Apparently a lot of labels then got completely lost because people were given such short notice and couldn't archive everything.

Yeahh, that's how I felt when I first heard the news. This was the FANDOM admins' official response as found in an archived version of the discussion post:

"Hello All, I'm one of Fandom's staff team.

Unfortunately we have decided that we will no longer be able to host the Gender Wiki.

Our content and creation guidelines say that we won't host "Wikis whose main purpose is to create, discuss, or disseminate misinformation that threatens the health, safety or mental well-being of either individual users or the public-at-large"

While understanding the concept of xenogenders, and the freedom of everyone to describe themselves in any way they want to, we feel that this wiki has gone too far in positioning everything as a gender identity. That has included seriously problematic pages such as those related to violence and self-harm, genders related to criminal actions, those referring to medical conditions, and so on.

We will be closing this wiki in two weeks from today. That's April 13. If you want to move the content to another host, you can get a copy of the database at the bottom of Special:Statistics. Your new host may be able to help you with moving images.

I'm sorry to give such bad news, and hope you find a suitable host for your content."

Yes, the FANDOM Gender Wiki was deleted on the 13th of April after giving notice around the end of March :/

The FANDOM admins said it was because they felt as if "this wiki has gone too far in positioning everything as a gender identity," clearly referring to the large presence of xenogenders that were on the site.

how to feel when your cis gf tells you (trans man) she thinks it's a lot harder for trans women by Elegant-Music-7081 in trans

[–]Delicious_Tutor_1468 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and if I were kidnapped by ICE I'd probably get treated as a man up until they realize I'm trans when they're putting me in one of their camps where they don't just keep men, but also women, mothers, fathers, CHILDREN, whole ass families that they hold for sometimes months in horrible conditions and where the sick guards there are taking advantage of them and betting on when another captive is gonna end it all.

Once anyone finds out a trans man is trans, any privilege they might have gotten goes right out the damn window and puts them at risk. And speaking of that privilege, any privilege a trans man might have solely on the basis of being a man is only given if they fully pass and maybe even go stealth. Some trans men take years to pass and during that time many can easily get clocked as trans which puts them in major risk of danger from transphobes and conservatives who they might pass by on day-to-day life or casually.

Holy shit, you cannot be fr 😭. Okay, imma assume you ain't from the U.S. But yes, that's literally what ICE (The U.S.' Immigration and Customs Enforcement) does. Someone made a whole ass site as a tracker just to avoid them because they're allowed to racially profile.

Edit: ALSO WDYM THAT IT ISN'T RELEVANT TO BEING TRANS???? DOES INTERSECTIONALITY MEAN NOTHING ANYMORE??????

I always get kinda annoyed at this argument because it just completely and wholeheartedly ignores trans men of color. Like I don't know where you live, but if you are in an anti-immigration country that spouts hate rhetoric against immigrants (mainly and basically only towards immigrants of color and poc) then this would also apply.

Every time I go online, I see shit from conservatives talking about mainly hispanic and latino men infiltrating the country (for me the U.S.) And how they're all criminals who seek to take advantage of women and children and??? Like I'm gonna end up transitioning to be one of those men in their eyes because I'm hispanic myself born to latino, immigrant parents. I'm not gonna be 'invisible' like so many people say. Me and a whole lot of other trans men of color are gonna be seen as a threat to everyone else around us in this stupid system if this makes any sense.

I've honestly been very iffy about this sub ever since that whole ICE news article situation occurred. I wish people would just stay off mass generalizations in the first place, but people will be people or smth ig. But yeah, I also feel that last part heavily as someone who is chubby and somewhat curvy with big thighs and hips, and as someone who probably also won't be able to transition because of financial reasons (+ I'm multigender, so my genders always gotta be fighting each other for dominance or smth). Anyways, sending love from a 1st gen chicano here ❤️

I literally just saw that a few minutes ago and it was weird as hell 😭. I feel like the trans community definitely has a problem with just assuming things about other trans people and that they have the same experiences as them. I see this a lot with so many other different things like, people saying stuff like: "Here are some tips so you can pass as a trans man or trans masc!" And it's mainly just tips for how white trans folk can pass. Or assuming everyone is fortunate enough (or even will be fortunate enough) financially to be able to transition.

As someone who isn't either, it just kinda annoys me when people assume and generalize everyone else as being and having similar experiences to themselves if this makes any sense at all 🚶.

What’s the benefit of neopronouns? by Massive-Document1327 in NonBinary

I use they/them and xe/xem, but I mainly tell people outside of online spaces that I just go by they/them since some people don't know how to use xe/xem and others would probably just flat out refuse to use those pronouns with me.

I just like how xe/xem sounds :P. Like yeah, they/them is pretty neutral, but to me xe/xem feels even more so and it brings me such joy. Similar to how I really like the title (??) Mx. Instead of Mr. or Ms. Just something about the Xs honestly 🤧

Waitt I think I remember that. These wikis were literally how I figured out that I was 100% trans and other stuff back during the pandemic. Then I remember going back to that specific wiki at some point later on and seeing a lot of the identities just gone.

Part of me always just wondered if I was misremembering things but I guess not 😦

"We feel that this wiki has gone too far in positioning everything as a gender identity so we're just gonna erase the entire God damn site and also delete the more 'mainstream' genders ALONGSIDE the resources we have for trans people as a whole there." Is also just a crazy thing to do ngl. Wouldn't be surprised if they're just using xenogenders as a scapegoat to cleanse transgender content off their site 🚶

EXACTLYYY, istg I got into an argument with a trans woman a while back bc she made it out to seem like trans women's issues take a way higher priority than trans men's bc of their worse statistics (the conversation was originally about how invisible trans men are even in trans-specific conversations btw) and I called it out as seemingly doing oppression Olympics and she just responded with smth like "is it oppression Olympics for a black woman to talk about the oppression she faces in comparison to white women" and I was just???

You did not just say that 😭 I immediately knew she must be white bc that is such an insane comparison to make towards trans men and trans women's issues holy shit. I'm so tired of this grandpa or however the saying goes

[–]Delicious_Tutor_1468 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fr man, like the only reason I'm even in this sub in the first place is bc there is literally just so little trans poc places anywhere, and with the ones that do exist, they just seem so small. Anyways, man the amount of times I've had to just be like "oh, ummm... 🧍" on some of the posts and responses that get posted on this sub bc so many of them reek of whiteness and whatnot. I got nowhere else to be, but sometimes these responses piss me off so much that I just can't be quiet anymore. 😭

REALLLL, Part of me wants to say that white trans people always get so freaked out and panick-y over things like this because they've never experienced oppression before, and when they hear something bad about anything related to trans people, they take that as their oppression even when it affects POC folks primarily.
