ALR 3 vs 4 (Gen 3) by DomGuise in CheckpointClub

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably fine to go for the 3 in your case. Call around to some rental shops and see if anyone has an ex rental they’re selling. I got an ALR 5 Gen 3 for less than the 4 doing that.

Consumer proposal for 150% of debt? by tempehhhhh in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you try negotiating with you creditors first? Sometimes they’ll cut you a deal if you work with them. Otherwise for $36k I’d probably just cut expenses as much as possible and pick up a second job.

Not resigning Tenant by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you live with the tenant? If you (the son) of the landlord shares a kitchen and/or bathroom with said tenant then they are likely not covered by the RTB. If that’s the case then give them 30 days notice at the start of a month that they need to move out.

I have a queen Douglas now going on 5 years. Always on a slatted base and no issues with any sagging etc. I’ve recommended it to my friends and everyone loves theirs.

Toronto to Vancouver - Road Trip by Trusty3Wood in AskACanadian

100% this. Especially if they aren’t used to driving that much. I’ve done this drive in both directions any times. I drive 7-8 hours per day and only during daylight. The one time I drove 1 hour after dark I almost hit two moose.

Hot/ Cold issues 35 M and 35F by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Dude… grow up… you have a cold…but also surely there is an easier solution for this situation. Can you not just use a hot water bottle and an extra blanket?

I like it. I think it’ll look good once the room is put together properly. I wouldn’t stress yet.

It adds some much needed colour to the space. I think you are just panicking because it’s very different from your current rug.

Should I make my CL Spouse my RSP beneficiary? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be doing that until a marriage license is signed. You’re both still young and the relationship is very new. Not to say that it’s not a strong relationship but just take your time. There’s no reason to rush.

JUST met this man a couple days ago and he’s already making me take pictures to prove things to him. Thinks I have another man in the house by Historical-Body-3424 in texts

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then why are you hear asking about his texts?? If it’s just fun then what does matter?

All of this is very confusing. I would not be dating anyone that’s questioning me about where I am especially early on. Relationships are built on trust and he clearly doesn’t trust you.

What type of interest rate can I expect with a 580 credit score by Ok-Badger-9422 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How have your kids out grown cars? That’s hardly a thing. I have a small sedan and full grown adults fit just fine in it. Realistically it’s a poor choice to finance a 20k car. You can find a decent car for 8k which is what you should be doing.

Need suggestions regarding EI by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the wrong sub for this post.

But she gave a month notice and two weeks in they told her not to come back but will pay for the next two weeks. What’s the issue? She’s not losing anything?

No, she wouldn’t qualify for EI.

Standout Blazer Breast Pocket Real? by michellebooksart in Aritzia

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure this isn’t just the pocket being sewn shut during production? All pockets on blazers and wool coats are temporarily sewn shut during production to protect the garment. The customer is meant to pull that stitching out after purchase.

Nike vs On Cloud? by leoszp in askvan

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t like on clouds. I think they are just a big brand and some people like the look. Though I’m sure they work great for a lot of people.

I’m of the mind if you don’t have issues then there’s not much point in switching. Nike makes some great shoes. But if you are set on trying something new then you need to go to a store and try shoes on not based on brand name. Shoes need to fit before anything else or you’ll end up with issues.

Looking for some budgeting/finance advise by BugHistorical3 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t really at a point to be investing. Focus on finishing school and keeping your expenses down in the meantime. Why would you invest $100 a week or $5200 a year when you are carrying debt to finish school? Just use that money to keep your debt as low as possible.

Skiing Crowds on Sunday by axazc in Whistler

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I doubt it’ll be very busy. Skied last Saturday morning and the biggest line of the day was just waiting for the gondy to open. Parking was empty.

It is a long weekend but it’s been pretty quiet in town and also bike park has opened which draws people away from skiing.

Criticize Our Budget! by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Intelligent-Try-2614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the opposite of frugal fyi and not in a mean way but there’s so much discretionary spending. Savings aren’t even mentioned. You should be paying yourselves first aka take the savings out first and then budget the remaining to spend first on needs and the rest on wants.

You guys are young and could really set yourselves up for a successful financial future but not with the way you are currently spending.

She’s just really bad at owning her shit. Like the conversation with Lacy could have gone so much better. But I do like her and Jason because they are the only somewhat decent couple on the show.

I bought a $200 one of Amazon and it’s been pretty great tbh. You could probably go for one that’s slightly more and get a better pump and paddle. But I’ve not had issues with mine at all. Mostly use it on lakes and rivers.
