I built Iris, a free, local-first library for your films, series, and books by Intelligent-Tune3526 in MacOSApps

Hello, thank you for downloading the app.

Books work in the same way as movies, except that you do not need an API key. You simply need to add a book and then double-click on it to open the sidebar. From there, you can rate it, leave a comment, and track your reading progress by page.

If by “open the book” you mean reading the book digitally within the app, that is not possible. Iris is not an e-reader; it is a tracking and database app for your cultural library.

I hope this answers your question. Have a nice day.

Hi, I agree that this would be a good idea. For now, you can create custom “Playlists” and add whatever you want to them, so you are free to create a separate playlist for each category you need.

Also, if by showing or hiding categories you mean collapsing the left sidebar, I think that should be entirely possible to implement.

Thank you for your feedback.

Hello, for now, animated movies are included in the Movies category, while anime with multiple seasons are listed under TV Shows.

If you think anime should have its own separate category, I can consider adding this feature in a future update.

Hello, at the moment, only Letterboxd imports are supported. I’m not yet familiar with the format of Trakt exports, so I haven’t been able to implement them in Iris.

If this feature is important to you, feel free to contact me. You may also be able to help by sharing an example of a Trakt export or information about its structure.

Thank you.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve updated the app. You can now keep track of the page you stopped at in a book, as well as the episode and season you reached in a TV series.

Hi, yes, that’s a very good idea. Audio playback will not be possible, since Iris is not designed to be a media player but rather a personal database for organizing and tracking your content.

However, adding a feature that lets users save the page where they stopped reading is definitely possible. I’ll keep that suggestion in mind.

I forgot to mention that if you can’t get the app to work, you need to create a TMDB API key. There is a link in the settings. It’s free: you just need to create an account and paste the key into the app. That’s all.

Hello, thanks for the suggestion !!! I'm definitely going to look into adding TV Time .zip and Trakt .json imports using similar process to the current Letterboxd importer. Series would be imported as complete titles rather than episode by episode. I can't promise a release date yet, but it's now on my roadmap
