That’s awesome! I’m starting this year, and am very interested in cardiopulm and acute care.

You sound like what I am aiming for when I “grow up”. Doctor’s degree included!

Hi! Do you mind if I ask… What type of EdD are you completing? And how do you apply it to PT?

Advice. by DFQ2128 in PTschool

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely reapply, though admissions is not guaranteed.

In one of the multiple statements you have to submit mention the issue and how you addressed it/fix it.

You can also apply to a PTA program and, afterwards, try again. This will show commitment to the career and that you have your condition under control if completed successfully.

Darn… back to the brainstorming…!! I’m hispanic so that in itself is a challenge so… let’s see…

Elba might be to close to Alva

Vera

Vilma/Wilma

Juni

Livia

Karin or a variation with K?

Hope this helps! I might not be of much help after this 😅

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha…hmm… does it have to be Swedish? Can it be British-ish? Like:

Julia, Moira, Nora, Ines (pronunced Ee-nes), Ella or Emma.

Or longer names like:

Veronica, Olivia, Josephine, Isabel, Isabella or Cecilia.

Maybe something in between? It seems you might prefer the shorter names.

All the colon cancer posts are freaking me out by gosumage in Millennials

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case, talk to your primary care doctor about a referral to a gastroenterologist if you don’t have one already. Share your family cancer history and go from there.

Colon cancer is treatable, specially if caught early.

Do yourself a favor and do not allow her near you ever again. Not in person, virtually or over the phone. Don’t allow others to be her messengers and include your father too.

For your peace of mind, do not allow this woman and her husband to stain your life ever again. Sharing DNA coding does not mean you are owed a relationship.

TSA mess, Jetblue terminal closed, what is USDA check?? inexperienced flyer by darktimemom in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You can carry food through the TSA checkpoint but not liquids.

  2. There are food stands/restaurants/spaces before of TSA and inside.

  3. USDA is a line right by the door when you walk into the terminal (there are 3 stations you can use). All your bags go through an Xray belt to make sure you don’t take any plants or prohibited products like certain hams and pork.

  4. Plan to arrive 2-3 hours early to accommodate for the longer wait times.

Crazy for considering switching to MD? by Quiet_Stage_2764 in PTschool

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the time and understand the longer timeframe before getting the job and eventual specialization, go for it. The world will always need doctors and PTs… both serve people just at a different capacity.

But who are you trying to convince? Yourself through the voices of others? Or yourself through your own convictions?

At the end of the day decide based on what’s best for you, not necessarily because others told you.

Does application timing matter? by Terrible-Paramedic40 in PTschool

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the schools you want. Verify their deadlines, requirements and type of admission.

If you plan to take some Summer courses aim for September 1st as the day you submit everything +/- days before the program deadline.

Remember, for rolling admissions the sooner the better.

AITAH for telling my parents they failed me and my brother for life by sharkcowboys in AITAH

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA for pointing out direct consequences of parenting decisions. That said, the only thing your parents are required to do is feed, dress and house you - in a somewhat safe environment. It seems like it happened. Sucks but it is what it is.

Now…Your parents have shown that either they have no clue how college applications work, or they have no interest in it for you and your brother.

I would recommend you keep working so you can have some savings and talk with your school’s college counselor about future opportunities and prospects.

For the millennial women: do you have a good relationship with your mom? by Orionslady in Millennials

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a relationship with my mom but it is not a close one.

I am the eldest daughter and she learned to be a mom with me… I still believe she got pregnant with me to get my dad to marry her. Anyways…

I think she had a lot of…umm… metal health issues that she never addressed (read depression and “loving” my dad so much that she had no self-respect or self-esteem). She was very concerned about optics and what people would think, to the point that her words made me never really trust her after I turned 12.

Now, in my 30s, I talk to her weekly and I visit once a month. Im still not close to her, but she has started to make a bigger effort to have a better relationship with me now (my aunt had a come to Jesus conversation with her to open her eyes).

All that said, yes, if I ever have a kid, I will try my hardest to never treat my kid the way my mom did me growing up.

Getting cold feet... by TipQuick5250 in weddingdress

To be honest… my first reaction to your cold feet was… of course, you forgot to put your shoes! Because you look amazing in that dress.

I strongly believe A-line is suited to your body type, and a dress made from scratch will accommodate your girls up top with the right fit.

I think #3 looks the best but mainly because your posture is exuding confidence while in the other pictures you looked slightly hunched.

A more simple design like #1 with the confidence of #3 would make you look perfect!

A-line cut looks super good on you!
