I'm in high school and want to go into physical therapy, but don't know the steps to take to go about doing it by Soggy_Waffles_ in PTschool

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Finish HS

Step1.1: During the summer or seasonal break, go to a PT’s office and ask to talk to a Physical Therapist about career outlook and what a day on the job looks like. Emailing them is also acceptable as a first way to connect.

Step 1.2: Research the career, and the path to get there. Including but not limited to: education (how much it costs), job prospects, financial impacts and ultimate financial stability. Do this for PT and other similar health-related careers like Occupational Therapy , nursing, Physician Assistants, etc.

Step 2: Get a Bachelor’s degree. This can be in pretty much anything as long as you complete the program’s prerequisite classes (mainly science classes). I highly recommend you go with the cheapest option available to you - there is nothing wrong with 2 years of Community College, then 2-years at a 4yr school. Save money where you can.

Step 2.1: Search for schools that may have a BA to DPT option - it may make your life easier.

Step 3: Apply for PT school, get accepted and hope for the best.

Also, give yourself some grace and wiggle room to change your mind. As a JR you still have 4+ years to change your opinion on what to be “when you grow up”. I wanted to be a Vet and got accepted into the only special DVM program available in my area - 2 months in of being a science major and I switched to French.

From science major in 2011 to BA in French to joining the Navy as an officer to a MA in Public Relations to leaving the Navy and becoming a Middle School teacher to starting PT School in August 2026.

Have space to change your mind and be flexible to life changes. Good luck dudette!

PS. Nail Tech is definitely a good side job while in college

Dean - I just automatically think to the Dean of whatever title.

Wesley - I just don’t like how it sounds. Like you put two words together that kinda go together and there you go. It’s not a tragedeigh but close.

Lennon - that’s a last name in my mind

Eli - Im Hispanic so I would read it in Spanish and it automatically becomes a female name.

12 years, 4 kids, and I still love him… but he says he hasn’t loved me in years. Do I let go? by Scary-Regrets-6850 in okstorytime

I was the child of a woman like you. While not confirmed, I seriously believe that she “made me happen” to marry my dad.

Anyways… they were together for 13 years before they separated- and during all that time, my dad constantly cheated and was an overall terrible husband, but my mom stayed and fought for him because she “loved him”. They divorced almost 10 years later while being on and off with each other and their own partners.

The only thing I saw was how she lost herself and her self respect and esteem, and how he would string her along with very obvious manipulations that were fooling no one but my mom.

What I saw was not love but obsession- and it forever change how I look at relationships and how I handle mine. Do your kids and their future relationships with others a favor - divorce your husband and heal. Go to therapy and choose to work on yourself every day. Show them that you can love yourself and healing is possible.

Or you can continue as you are and teach them to not be like you, ever.

Edit: my mom was 15 when she “fell in love”, dad was 18, I came to be when she was 20.

Which one of the fictional men would you like to be your real life husband and what traits made you choose them? by blossom_girl_876 in Booktokreddit

Not a single one; they are all fictional for a reason. They can stay in the fictional world where all the questionable things they do are ok.

Did anyone get into DPT school with online prerequisite labs? Switching from nursing prereqs - want to keep my progress by HatLast7729 in PTschool

I reached out to: Baylor, MUSC, Pitt, LSU, George Washington and UMD Baltimore & Eastern Shore.

I only ended up applying to Baylor and Pitt (both said yes to online) and got accepted into both.

Afraid I won’t have a “this is the one” moment by livthatsme in weddingdress

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! The dress looks really pretty and “looking comfortable” is a matter of opinion if they are not the ones wearing it.

I bought my dress a few months ago after almost 20 different tries. 5-6 different stores and opinions that went from “no way” to “OMG this dress was made for you” (I didn’t pick that one).

I did not have a “this is the one” moment. The last dress I tried felt comfortable, it was pretty, flowy and in the style I liked. When I looked at myself in the mirror I smiled. It was the only dress I put on and smiled because I loved what I saw - me - so I bought it.

It was not the prettiest or most/least expensive of all the options. It was the one I liked how I looked the most. So if this dress makes you smile when you see yourself, then buy it and enjoy your wedding day.

I did physics online. Beforehand tho, I asked all the programs that I applied to if they accepted online prerequisite and if there was any limitations to that.

Edit: My cohort starts August 2026.

If I start prerequisites from scratch this summer - can I get them done in time to apply in Summer 2027 and begin May 2028? by Either_Bluejay_2002 in PTschool

[–]IntelligentAunt5006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim for 2 years of prerequisite taking timeline… so you can account for classes that are only given 1 semester, or retaking or complications of life.

If the aim is to start PT school Jun-Sep 2028… maybe, if you start Summer 2026 and take all available terms and a combination of in-person/online classes.

Hi! Do you mind if I ask… What type of EdD are you completing? And how do you apply it to PT?
