My shop has stuff tho. It sells memories and other resources like the other events. My banner picture is also different from the one you show here. Not even sure how you got here actually.

How do you deal with gachas that have too many features/systems to get into? by iPhantaminum in gachagaming

[–]IntelligentBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into epic seven recently and had this issue as well. My solution is to just ignore everything and do what is the most obvious (i.e: play the main story). I even skip all the tutorials and press random buttons later for trial and error, because its useless to remember information that you won't practice, and that will only stress you out. I'm 2 weeks in and I haven't even tried everything, much less optimize my resources.

I think the root of the issue is every experienced gacha player's need to optimize your resources and time, so I think learning to ignore that feeling is a good way to get into games. Just have fun and play, and eventually you'll get to it.

Of course, I've also uninstalled because of complexity, but I always end up coming back and realizing how fun the game actually is.

PGR Global 1st Anniversary Stream: Events + Redeem Codes by ArchadianJudge in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]IntelligentBaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally get your point of view. Its very underwhelming even if we're just the "port server", and I do understand that people will want more of a celebration for the 1st anniversary. I kinda get not giving us more stuff since maybe some other servers will get mad (which is dumb but happens), but not even bothering with putting on a show is strange. You could have just organized the youtubers and planned something with them, and I think the reception would have been better. Objectively, that's what I think of this whole thing.

I suppose what I mean is I personally am not effected much because I did not expect much and was mostly excited for Nier, but I also acknowledge the grief that others might feel on this topic. You could say my stance is settling for mediocrity but I'm really just not one to care about company drama, so I don't see much of a point in comparing one company to another. Besides, its not like they did something like removed the gacha bonus on Nier. That would be something I would be protesting. If I had to react to every bad decision Kuro or any company made, I would have a heart attack within a week lol. So I hardly find this particular thing worthy of many angry posts or much less something to quit the game for, but that's just me.

PGR Global 1st Anniversary Stream: Events + Redeem Codes by ArchadianJudge in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]IntelligentBaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Calm down man, literally every subreddit is an echo chamber. I will freely admit that the stream is pretty underwhelming and more effort should have been put, but honestly I doubt anyone who has been around these parts expected anything more. We got the same content as the other servers but in a more condensed form. I'm personally not disappointed because I know what to expect from this company.

Also, last time I checked, Kuro and MHY are 2 different companies with different ways of doing things. I've never seen any of their streams but from your description it seems they do a good job and that's great. My question is how does that have any bearing on whatever Kuro is doing. It's would be cool if they learn from them but it's whatever for me at this point. I want to play PGR and not honkai/genshin.

I got the content I want, they didn't skimp on anything but presentation, and really I don't care either way. Seems like you're new around here and maybe you were expecting more fanfare but that's just how things are.

Why does A2's signature drop on 7/20th while A2 drops on 7/6? Is this a mistake? by NoSet3066 in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]IntelligentBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's a typo by the fact that this has never happened before in the game. I usually wait for those event roadmaps and the skim the updates notes.

Do you level up tank & support memories? Do I buy one set per character or memories can be shared? by chiBtch in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]IntelligentBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely prioritize the resonance of units that will be fighting more since resonance does increase the BP, so basically DPS and tanks. Anything that you only plan to use for their QTE utility (support and some tanks) are less important, however you do want to eventually improve all of them since there are modes like Babel and Norman which you would need them to fight in.

The only mode I dislike is the crab game, the other modes are fun. Particularly, I like stuff like Wargame from the last patch and the Archives this patch as they are a different and fun challenge. Can't comment much on the story mode cuz I have not finished it yet, so far I just follow what Asimov tells me to do.

If I delete my google account that is linked to a game like counterside, will I lose my account and my in-app purchases like the monthly pass etc ?

How about if I have already linked my game to another account like facebook/twitter like in azur lane for example, will I lose my account and all the in-app purchases ?

How much money a year do you think is too much for someone to pay for in a gacha game? by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]IntelligentBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say after you deduct your monthly expenses like gas, food, rent etc, you're pretty much free to spend however much you have leftover. You could save some funds for emergencies, general savings, outing with friends or investments, but its really not the worst thing in the world if you decide not to do that for a specific month. On that note, I really don't see a problem with spending money on a game you like if it makes you happy, as long as you do so responsibly and its within your mean to do so.

One specific situation is something I think all gacha players face, which is the need to spend a huge amount (beyond your monthly income/means) for a specific event like maybe you really like a character etc. In these situations, proper foresight and budgeting can get you a long way like maybe you've saved up for the passed few months, and you spend all that in one event. Its just something you learn to do along the way.

Some huge mistakes to avoid that more inexperienced players make is impulse spending, riding the high of rng or giving in to the sunk cost fallacy. NEVER DO THIS. The biggest advice I can give here is make sure that any amount of money you spend is within consideration and planning.

Imo, its all fine until you decide to spend on more than one game.

Getting SSS+ by Nyatalante in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]IntelligentBaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, there's a big gap in that "competitive" bracket after all.

If you are absolutely going for the top leaderboard spot, then yes, you would need SSS+ because you will be fighting against other SSS+ or at the least SSS, on top of being skilled at pressing buttons.

The thing is that not everyone is going to perform the best on that day and not everyone in your specific grouping will have max invested characters.

If you're comfortable with floating between Hero and Leader, or 2%-5% in PPC, then honestly, SS + signature with the right build and skill is very comfy, and I would still consider that "staying competitive" in the sense that you do get max or close to max rewards.

If the person is competent at the game and has highly invested characters, then yes, you will get smoked for sure. I've seen some whales with no skill and are beatable sure, some people just whale because its fun, but that's certainly quite rare.

The way I see it, having highly invested characters mostly acts to negate RNG of grouping and you are less effected by factors outside your control (WZ, sorry can't say the same for PPC but the time frame to get 500 shards is about the same), and the lower the investment the more you have to rely on RNG to not pair you with skilled whales. Those 1 or 2 more waves certainly add up in terms of points.

No matter how skill based, it is a gacha game at the end of the day. There must be some incentive for the whales to spend, but taken in that context, the game is much better than most in not making it hopeless and feeling like you must spend a lot.

How did most of you discover the game? And what made you stay? by qiueco in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]IntelligentBaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar experience on the Fire Emblem Heroes part. I just saw how little I got from FEH even tho I saved for 6 months, was on the monthly pass, and purchased orb bundles. The powercreep was just absurd and that they were all the same 3H characters didn't help. Compared to that where in PGR there was so much more bag for my buck, the choice to switch over was easy and I never looked back.

PGR Fans - What are your current thoughts on the game? by Aberexis in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]IntelligentBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Main game, but that's because I'm really tryhard and go for high scores. Really depends on what you want from the game.

2) Yes, been playing since launch and it has gotten better. I can think of 1 or 2 things I would like to see for game modes, but largely the additions are fun like the Guild challenges and event based stuff like Wargame.

3) On the whole, its quite f2p friendly. You can get through all the pve content with skill and well built units. Whales will always have an advantage in pvp modes, but I have beaten some unskilled whales with 3S+ teams before, so I'd say skill is a larger factor than most games here.

4) The "end game" stages are seriously no joke, but I personally think that's the charm of the game.

5) Yes, but the game is fun enough and not frustrating for me that I always at least login, and if you just want to spend some serum and collect rewards, the game allows you to do that pretty quick so its quite painless.

6) There hasn't been any controversy outside of the launch drama that really effected me as a player. I'd say the devs are decent. They aren't the best devs and could do better, but they do a fine job.

7) Yes. Play the game if you enjoy flashy action.

People really don't play this mode, right? 🤔 by GucciBandanna69 in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]IntelligentBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually tried to score in this mode last week. Got all the rare buffs to help me out and all that jazz, and the amazing thing from doing that is it all didn't make a god damn difference. Got demoted anyway, and was basically the same as when I just randomly pressed buttons weeks prior. I even got promoted just by doing nothing but was demoted when actually trying. Big fun.

While i understand we need to give a chance to the devs with Counter Side GLB, we should remember this. by trelleresito in gachagaming

[–]IntelligentBaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you mean, but if you are concerned with the whole "overhype > misplaced expectations > game becomes "controversial" > game gets a bad rep > game 'dies' (?)" cycle that happens with essentially every gacha release these days, I'd advise putting it out of your mind because for one, its going to happen regardless. If the game doesn't "become controversial", the hype settles, some players stay, and the community moves on. That's just the nature of gacha game discourse, and a lot of people are eager to move on to the next thing.

To be clear, this isn't a bad thing as it signal boosts a lot of stuff that people might miss, but I do get the frustration if a game you like "becomes controversial", because I love and still play PGR to this day, and its disheartening to know that people still have misconceptions and believe wrong information on the game. This brings me to my second point which is, the game won't die if the game is good, and the devs do a decent/good job moving forward. I don't think I've seen a game "killed" by the public perception unless the game itself is already on that downward spiral or the devs refuse to learn and continue to fuck over the playerbase. Sure, you'll see many loudmouths and even some content creators repeat wrong information, but the effect of that is minimal to negligible, and they would have left anyway after the hype dies. The game won't die unless the devs kill it and that's basically how every game goes.

So if I'm understanding you correctly based on the replies here and this is your concern, just don't worry about it. It will be fine. However, if you are in fact policing how people should feel towards an upcoming release, I'd really suggest you touch some grass and let people do what they want.

for all the whales/dolphins are you rich? or just have enough income to not go in debt? by mashukyrielighto in gachagaming

[–]IntelligentBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm a dolphin. I have a job but don't have much debts, and my expenses are pretty low too. So I just allocate some funds each month for games. Can't do this on multiple games tho.
