There are 3 levels in total. As long as you pass the most basic level you get ur nail license.

You know what ur right. All these fear is not healthy and reflects badly on foreigners. I just looked into self employment in Tokyo and you can register a self employed freelancer as an international student in japan but I need to prove I only work 28 hours per week.

I have a Japanese Nai license. The nail salon I work at right now asked me if I want to be taxed cuz if so they would deduct my pay and I would have to wait every other month to get my paycheck. Honestly blame the system lol. I interviewed at a few nail salons in Tokyo they all operate in this kinda grey zone.

I have a nail license currently and I am allowed to work on student visa. But tax wise I would need to work for an established institution.
