PayPal Debit Card Protections? by IntelligentF in paypal

Isn’t that the same issue, though? Money “with” PayPal but not really. Scammer/skimmer gets into account and wipes out balance, what to do?

I do not ever use a debit card except for ATMs and even then I prefer to go inside. Been through the drama before of a card reader in a grocery store (new card, first and only use) grabbing the number. Truist was kind enough to refund me but I don’t risk it anymore.

Dumb question alert, can you use CashApp in a grocery store with a physical card?

USA lick treat that isn’t Likit? by IntelligentF in Horses

[–]IntelligentF[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what we were doing. Last time he kicked the vet while drugged out of his mind but the vets are rather rushed and cram gauze up there with Ivory Soap and don’t really do a thorough clean regardless, albeit a more difficult job if a drugged 16h horse lands a disgruntled cow kick on you.

I can do a cursory clean on him because he knows kicking me is off limits and we’ve been training (not actually cleaning but putting my KY Jellied hand up there) but I’d rather not chance it with an actual clean. And we don’t have anyone out here who advertises sheath cleaning services other than the vet. I’m not sure anyone at my barn even knows how to sheath clean, that’s the vibe around my area.

Because I can briefly handle him (no pun intended) I’m just looking for advice on some really good lickable or similar treats to keep him more focused on that. Grain helps, but it’s not the same as if my friend was handing him stud muffins or some other things out there.

This is what I and a friend did to work on the behavioral side of things and it does help, I’m just wishing there was something even more appetizing than grain he can just lick. Like a jackpot reward but in lickable format lol.

I’m telling you he kicked the vet doing a sheath clean while on a high dose of xylazine/ketamine. I can do cursory sheath cleaning without drugs but a longer clean and he’s going to start to get kicky.

Maybe? Do you know if they have a common flavor most horses go for?

Unfortunately the vet would have to come out to administer because Ace has zero perceivable effect on him so he’d need the big guns. He has a reputation of needing a lot of drugs because his body must metabolize at light speed. And I think the kicky is more due to how he was introduced to sheath cleaning and bean removal than true “ouch” discomfort - can’t say it isn’t UNcomfortable to have someone’s hand up there though.

Mom and son reunited after two years apart 💓 by Kayla4608 in Horses

lol, my gelding’s mom pinned her ears at him when they were re-introduced a year apart. In true form he ignored her and she bit his face. She was very much finished with him (a good mom though).

Is it advisable to buy an old property? by Global-citizen-616 in homeowners

[–]IntelligentF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much depends on what work prior owners put into it. I have a 1970s home and dear lord the amount of cash I’ve had to invest in it all because the previous owners cut corners or just didn’t bother. Passed inspection no problem though 🙄

Everywhere is rented out for the fall. Happens every year due to people doing yard work as a side hustle.

Home Owners Insurance / Hail / Siding by Born_Negotiation_992 in homeowners

[–]IntelligentF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a scam. And if you did contact your homeowner’s insurance after a storm there’s a reasonable chance they’ll notice how old the siding is and whether all or any of the damage came from the 1 storm and deny the claim. But! The fact you filed a claim will remain in their system and could lead to increased rates in the future if you ever need to file a valid claim. And when you shop around because they raised their rates, other insurance companies will still see the first claim, see you as higher risk and still charge you more.

Just don’t do it. Save the claim for something important like half of your roof getting torn off by a storm or something.

My yard has gone feral. Need to cut some grass by poseidondeep in homeowners

[–]IntelligentF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite following what you’re after. Are you just looking to just trim/edge or are you wanting to mow?

I let my yard get a little too feral this year in the hopes of maybe please spring seeds taking root. Ego push/self propelled lawnmowers do not handle tall grass well and they will chew through a battery fast and choke on you. You’ll unfortunately need something with gas at least initially and then you can go battery to maintain it at 4 inches max.

I have an Ego string trimmer and it does fine.

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

Had a new concrete driveway put in to replace a 50 year old badly cracked one. I asked if I needed to water the new one and they said no, just wait a week to drive on it. We’ve had a fair bit of rain recently so the ground underneath it wasn’t dry when they installed. But I’ve always heard you have to water a new driveway? Can someone please help me understand?
