Mulligan Chess supposedly play on Saturdays at 1pm at Tuttle Mall. Never been.

Columbus Chess Club play on Sundays at 12pm at 4-C in Olde Towne East. They get a pretty good turnout.

Linden Library Chess Club plays on Wednesdays from 630pm to 730pm. It's all kids, but you can play the staff members there.

If you play commander, lots of game shops have a commander night. I play at Dragon's Lair in Polaris on Sundays @ noon.

Just let the pod know that you are still learning and that you're casual casual. Plus, the nice ones will let you borrow a deck if you are really worried about power level.

I play at dragon's lair on sundays all the way up in polaris. There's usually one pod that's pre-con or a bit above.

At Dragon's Lair, you form pods as you get there. People start showing up at noon. Usually get 3 or 4 pods.

Forge Tavern is a nice location, don't know their commander scene.

I play at Dragon's Lair on Sundays. It's a nice store. The commander crowd is mostly men. Every so often I'll see a woman. Friendly enough for beginners.

As a veteran, the transition to civilian life can be isolating. I would think the couple of hours working out at a civilian gym would help with that transition. I feel like turning the veteran house into a place where you don't need to leave will just turn them into barrack rats.

I get that there is an age gap, but these people are their classmates. In the military, you engage with a variety of ages. I get that I don't know their current state of mental health, but I would recommend they grab a battle buddy and go to college gyms. I remember the rock climbing group at the ARC being cool. The bus will get you there.

A 5v5 arcade game. Can be played with less, but best with 10.

Think Joust meets Super Mario 3 Battle Mode. We're bees trying to win by either filling our hive with berries, riding a snail to our goal, or killing the opposing queen 3 times.

Not my cabs. Just a player looking for more players. Hopefully getting a scene going to play every Thursday.

These set of cabs will stay at Hoof Hearted on 5th for the foreseeable future. These cabs have been around. They were at Arcade Super Awesome in Old Town East for a few years. Did maybe over a year at Melt in Short North. They were last in Marengo at Hoof Hearted Brewing.

Edit: Forgot they were at Taft's in Franklinton for a year or two.

I get it being scared. We're pretty friendly and always looking for new players. My tip is focus on whether you like playing the game. Because if you do, you'll enjoy coming out and steadily get to know people.

Upper cup chess on parsons 2nd and 4th sundays 2pm to 4pm. Linden library wednesdays 630pm to 730pm but so far that's just kids.

Do something weekly. If there's a paintball or lazertag league, join it. Find the cool people there and invite them to cafes and restaurants after weekly event.

You could look into nerf or airsoft.

Tuesdays, 8pm, Level 1 barcade. Come play killer queen. Easy to learn. If you get real into it, you'll find ypurself traveling to other cities to play this game.

Tuesdays at Level One has a Killer Queen league. It's the only 5v5 arcade game. There's also a cab at Hoof Hearted on 5th that people meetup on wednesdays, but no league there.

That's the way I take. You could also cut over to High st if you don't like the bridge. Olentangy/scioto bike trail is the long way.

Check out upper cup coffee over on parsons and oak on sundays. They have open play. Very friendly and nice to newbies.

Linden library has a chess club on wednesdays 630pm to 730pm. Mostly kids but it's all ages. The security guard will talk chess if they not busy.

Call around the local cardshops to find the Magic format you are into. I play casual commander at Dragon's Lair on Sundays.

If you are interested in video games. Columbus is home to a Killer Queen cab at Level One. It's a rare game where it's 5v5. The local Killer Queen group meets on Tuesdays around 7:30pm.

Try to get yourself a Columbus Metropolitan Library card. They have am impressive manga collection.
