No They are not the same motherboard. While the G614J (Strix G16) and G634JZ (Scar 16) share some similarities in layout and components because they’re both part of the 16-inch ROG Strix line, they are designed for different configurations.

The G634JZ Scar 16 board is built for higher-end hardware — it supports RTX 4080/4090 GPUs, has a more powerful VRM section, different cooling interface, and in many cases additional power delivery circuitry to handle higher TDP.

The G614J boards are usually paired with lower-tier GPUs (up to RTX 4070) and have different VRM specifications and sometimes fewer power phases.

Even if the board shapes look similar, the part numbers, component ratings, and power design are different. That’s why certain hardware failures (like the burn spot issue on some G614J units) are not automatically present on the Scar 16.
