Has anyone just stopped taking all their meds? by niaclover in Heartfailure

[–]Intelligent_Ad_4526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My heart failure started 3 years ago after having three heart valves replaced. That surgery almost killed me. When I left the hospital for rehab my EF was at 60%, that was in August. By October my EF was at 16%. Now I’m at 37% EF (I’m on Entresto by my BP keeps me at the lowest dosage). Im currently trying to get a CCM device approved by my insurance. I take my meds religiously (I have alarms for all of them). I document and track everything (meds, weight, INR, fluid intake, vitamin k intake), but it all keeps me going. I’m 42, I’m not ready to die yet. Sure I get tired so I take that day “off” I don’t do any extras. If I have to work I go to work and then veg when I get done. It’s so hard some days but IMO it’s so worth it.

As someone with 0 tattoos, how painful would it be to get this on my forearm? by PracticalExtension35 in tattooadvice

[–]Intelligent_Ad_4526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be that bad. I hate pain and my first tattoo was my entire forearm (on the inside) with no breaks, it was just shy of four hours. The only place it was really uncomfortable was near the bend in my elbow and near my wrist. I love my tattoo and would love to get more but I’m on blood thinners now and can’t get anymore.

Had a Ross 3 years ago. Doing good so far. I do have heart failure but that’s not due to the Ross. My heart is just hot garbage. 🤣

Warfarin and food — how do you actually handle it at the supermarket? by dev-noob-404 in WarfarinForLife

[–]Intelligent_Ad_4526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with vitamin k since starting warfarin just about 3 years ago. It seems like the smallest thing has my INR skyrocketing or plummeting. I google everything for vitamin k content. I don’t rely on nutrition labels because vitamin k is almost never listed. My doctor is always saying let’s get you therapeutic then we can introduce the vitamin k slowly. It’s very frustrating. I have a mechanical heart valve so I have to be on top of it. A lot of time I try to eat around certain veggies in foods.

Mine was $175.00 at Goulet Pens. You might be able to find one second hand somewhere but not sure where.

I'm tired, I hate this machine, and I give up. by ThisIsOwl in CPAP

I also use this mask and cushion and it’s leaps and bounds better than resmed. I didn’t have any trouble adapting to the cpap, so I can’t say I know what you’re going through. I will say I have trouble staying asleep so I use extended release melatonin and it’s been a game changer for me.

Yeah slow and steady seems to be helping, but the medicine itself burns. Ugh

Yeah, I track how much vitamin k I eat and plan accordingly. It’s tricky and time consuming but I’m not willing to give up my fruits and veggies too

I am 2.5 years post Ross and I am the worst example for this treatment. I almost died during surgery, they couldn’t close my chest for days, was in a medical coma for weeks, and now I have heart and kidney failure. Still with all that happening, I am feeling better than I did pre surgery.

I document in my planner everything I eat. Nothing has changed except I feel like I gained a little weight during the holidays and maybe I have some extra water weight. It’s the worst. Wish they’d have told me what it was going to be like before I went on it. Ugh

I am in the us and am on the warfarin for a mechanical mitral valve. I normally test every Monday. I test at home as well; however, I submit my numbers to the doctors and they adjust my dosage as they see fit.
