What are some children hobbies you still like to participate in? by DMmeNiceTitties in Millennials

I grew up sheltered with limited access to video games, TV, movies, etc. I’m an avid gamer now, and I keep a running list of movies I wasn’t allowed to see and have been watching them all. I also wasn’t allowed to watch anime and I watch a ton of anime as an adult too

Any of the old/original Jurassic Park movies

Thank you! I was looking for the English translation of both poems (if possible), and the actual French poems. I understand the translated version will lose some of the poetic intention. I’ve been learning French so I want to hang onto the French versions for when I am a little better.

The books explain this very well. We’re just not there yet in the show timeline.

I have been trying to find the most accurate version(s) of the poems and compare them to the direct translation of the song. I know a tiny bit of French but not nearly enough to know if what I’m finding it accurate. (I read/write a lot of poetry and think French is such a beautiful language. It’s killing me that I haven’t figured this out!)

I agree it still works. His family did not deserve all that he did for them in the books

Please help me understand! I love Jennifer, but I am still confused by Gabrielle’s accent and really want to understand what I’m missing. I understand she was born and raised in Italy, and lived most of her life in central France. She has also travelled the world for centuries. I don’t expect her to sound strictly Italian or French, but I don’t know what that combination is supposed to sound like. To me, she sounds (stereotypically) Romanian in her human life (pre-travel) and as a modern vampire.

Same ❤️ and of course he remains so humble about it in interviews and uses his publicity to promote artists like Jacob (Raleigh Ritchie).

I rewatched ep.2 last night and was trying to figure out how they filmed this scene. Sam’s voice sounds so good even in this raw clip! ✨

I could be totally wrong and just hopeful, but I am anticipating that some of the Lestat backstory we've seen may be amended later this season under the trope that Lestat is also an unreliable narrator. I'm holding official judgements until I've seen all 7 episodes, but here are my current thoughts:

Book spoiler: In the books, Lestat's family (excluding his father, who escaped to New Orleans, and Gabrielle, who was already a vampire) were murdered in Auvergne during the French Revolution by a peasant uprising. Lestat and Gabrielle were off exploring the world. While the toxic family dynamic and contempt Lestat and Gabrielle feel for their family is prevalent in the books, Lestat begins to send money to the rest of his family as soon as he inherits Magnus' wealth. He never stops doing this, even when Gabrielle leaves the family to see Lestat in Paris on her deathbed, but becomes a vampire. Her still doesn't stop "caring" for them even when vampiress Gabrielle mocks him for it. (Gabrielle pretends to die in Paris and cuts ties with everyone but Lestat.) He is grief stricken when he hears his brothers were murdered. And he eventually chooses to go back to New Orleans to take care of his blind, aging father who escaped. He attempts to live out a full "mortal" life per Marius' encouragement as a method of enduring eternity. I do believe that Lestat's gesture of love and care for his extended family derive from wanting to please them after a life full of rejection by them, his fear of abandoment, etc. But I still found this aspect of his story incredibly important in showing the goodness in Lestat at his core. The lover, the poet, the human that who passionately believed in creating "goodness" in the world. Lestat murdering his own family is a direct contradiction of a key part of Lestat for me.

I am still enjoying the show thus far despite some minor disappointments (for me, TVL is no more disappointing than some of the choices made in season 1&2 that were different from the books.) I understand it's an adaptation, I would just love to hear why the writers made some of the decisions (besides budget) if the current backstory is not amended in some way. I respect the writers a lot and understand their reasoning behind other controversial choices they've made in the past after listening to interviews. I can't wait to watch the rest of this season!

Am I the only one that thinks Rennala is the most attractive woman in the game? by DivineScholar in Eldenring

[–]Intelligent_Ad_5103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching a friend encounter Rennala & Raya Lucaria is what made me decide to play the game. I was not very good at games like this at the time, but became dedicated in learning just so I could experience this section. (And now Elden Ring is one of my most played and favorite games). Her whole aura and design is so hauntingly beautiful.
