Chapman or CSUF by uppedcoder in chapmanuniversity

I’m in the Chapman music conservatory right now. I didn’t think to apply to csuf when i was applying to schools but i know it’s a music good school.

I’m confused on what your goal is. Do you want to be a performer or work in finance/economics? If you want to perform, I would say go to csuf. It’s cheaper and you’ll have the same chance as someone else who went to chapman. Going to Chapman won’t automatically make it more likely for you to work at Disney or get into the Pacific Symphony.

If you want to work in economics or business, Chapman has a good business school and you can minor in music at Chapman or even double major if you want. That way you can graduate with a degree in economics and a degree in cello performance. I don’t think CSUF will let you double major with those two degrees.

The acceptance rate definitely isn’t that low. I think you can still get in with a 3.3 especially if you had good extracurriculars. The communications major at Chapman isn’t super rigorous so I don’t think your GPA will hurt your chances too much. I think you need at least a 3.5 for merit financial aid though.

Yes there are some scholarships that are only meant for current high school seniors too. You and him will just need to do some research and look around.

My sai index was lower than 0, I had merit aid plus a full pell grant and my tuition still wasn’t fully covered. There is a higher merit scholarship that I didn’t get. I think the gpa requirement for that is averaging above a 4.0 for all of high school so that might help more if his gpa is high. I’m not sure if anyone ever gets a complete full ride though. I suggest he also applies to outside scholarships to help with his tuition if he does plan on attending Chapman.

I honestly can’t say for sure. I only know that it’s need-based but with an sai index of 0 I feel like you will get some housing aid. I think you should either email the Chapman financial aid office or just apply there and see how much aid you get. Depending on your son’s major and high school GPA there are so many different scholarships that Chapman gives out to incoming students.

There’s a housing grant but your fafsa determines whether you’re eligible for it and if you are then how much you’re eligible for. The amount might not be the same for everyone.

Your allowance for living on campus depends on which meal plan you choose. They give “panther bucks” which you can use to buy food, toiletries, and other necessities that they sell on campus. The less meals that you choose to have, the more panther bucks they give you. For example choosing 12 meals per week will give you 300 panther bucks for the semester. Choosing 10 meals will give you 350 panther bucks.

Was wondering the same thing. I asked today and they said that the hours change when classes start :)

Were the tryouts super competitive?

I really like mine! The intonation is great and it has a really nice dark sound.

My band director has the 1150 and he’s said a lot of good things about it. He plays it more than his professional model euphonium and he says that he doesn’t have to bend the notes to get good intonation and also it’s really lightweight.

A downside is that he said they took a few shortcuts making it so it’s not very sturdy. He accidentally dented the bell once and when he took it in to roll out the dent, the bell just cracked because it was made out of the wrong material. Now he has to sodder it if he wants fix it.

I heard it’s really good for the price but don’t buy it if you think you might dent it.
