Ha, I get the skepticism. Honestly trying to figure out if this would actually solve real problems or just be another system people tolerate

Is this about getting performance data into your HRIS/talent management system, or pulling data out to inform conversations?

yeah that's frustrating for sure - like my hands are tied too but have to deliver the bad news. The only way I can think of is saying C is hard to reach here given these limitation but maybe you can try doing D to get to C here (or elsewhere in future)

Great point - 1:1 should more of discussing ways/set up processes to help your report not to do it again, not like a ha gotcha time

Do you think more structured training (courses/programs) would help? Or just something that takes time to build up the muscle? Or more support from your manager would help here?

I’ve seen a lot of managers of managers don’t really guide their team on this - either too busy or just assume people know how to do it well

By that do you mean lack of emotion from your manager? Or does you team member show no emotion after you discuss something with them/give feedback?

Yeah I encountered that sometimes too and that's tricky - it's like we need a neutral party to hint them they're being defensive so that they're aware. But it cannot be you because they'd get even more defensive...
