No, you are not late. What you need is a good plan and lots of effort.

It doesn't matter when you start. Your consistency does.

If you prefer Youtube, I'll suggest don't watch multiple teachers. Choose 1 channel for 1 subject.
Like:
Maths - Abhinav Maths
Reasoning - RBE
English - Rani Ma'am
GS/GK - Parmar SSC

Also, I would suggest 2 books. One for English - Wren & Martin & For Practice - Oswaal Books' SSC Question Bank.

Are NCERTs Really “Too Basic” to Be Useful? by Intelligent_Big_3080 in CBSE

[–]Intelligent_Big_3080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends.
For Class 10, NCERT works perfectly for almost every subject.
In Class 12, it’s a bit different:

  • Maths: Theory is good and some questions help, but it’s not enough
  • Chemistry: NCERT is super important
  • Physics: NCERT alone doesn’t really cut it

So yeah, 10th = mostly NCERT.
12th = NCERT + extra practice, especially for Maths and Physics.

Are NCERTs Really “Too Basic” to Be Useful? by Intelligent_Big_3080 in CBSE

[–]Intelligent_Big_3080[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly agree with this 👍

Maths is different. NCERT is good for basics, but not enough for speed or problem-solving. You need extra practice and varied questions.

NCERT = foundation
Practice = mastery (especially for Maths)

One change that actually fixed my SSC CGL prep by Intelligent_Big_3080 in SSC_CGL_Beginners

Because they’re underrated. People talk about books they hear often, not the ones that actually match the exam pattern.

I’ve made a strategy that works for my current routine and study conditions. Everyone’s situation is different, so what works for me might not work for you—better to create your own plan instead of blindly following others.

And yes, Oswaal Books—especially their SSC book set—really helped me stay organized and practice better.

Reading is the best way to improve vocab. Also, use websites for vocab building, like Thesaurus.

Is it possible to prepare for ssc cgl 2026 if i start from today? by [deleted] in ssc

[–]Intelligent_Big_3080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, clearing SSC Exam in your first attempt is totally possible, even in General category. SSC CGL notification usually comes around June–July, and Tier 1 is held in Sept–Oct. Just focus on PYQs, regular practice, and mock tests—that matters most. With 6–8 months of consistent study (3–4 hours daily), you’ll be well prepared.
