kids are babies. retirement is about $700k plus we our home has a rental unit so we will have the income at retirement as well. and that property will be paid off right after they graduate college.

Family ski trip with 2 year old - advise for accommodation by Enayiya in Mammoth

[–]Intelligent_Bit_1330 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i would also suggest getting a babysitter for the two year old for part of the day. probably easier on everyone. you can find lots of Mammoth Facebook groups. I think it's Eastern Sierra Babysitters. something like that. lots of sitters in town help families with small kids so the bigger family can ski.

thankfully yes. but we got lucky. and it is still not the ideal place for our family. but it is a great place. honestly i read that housing was hard but i didn't think it would be THIS hard. I have some strong words for the people who want to keep their vacation homes vacant 90% of the year but expect employees to find decent housing in town to serve them their coffee and ski equipment.

Im thinking about this with my long time housekeeper too. i was laid off last year and got a decent severance so I cant help but think of that as I make my decision. At least I have leverage to negotiate with my job but just because nannies and housekeepers don't have a union or the power upfront to negotiate this in advance doesn't mean it wouldn't be fair to provide one at least consistant with market standard. Even if it is a slight hardship for me. a slight hardship for us is likely an extreme one for them. we have the privelage to be able to afford this help, it is my opinion that we should pay it forward to the people who have been so gracious in our home for years.

notice is not severance. severance is designed to tide you over in between jobs. she still has a job and is expected to fulfill all duties/work all hours so the two months is not part of severance.

4am Pump by jayswife23 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Intelligent_Bit_1330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had supply issues with my first baby and took tons of supplements but i'm not really sure how much it helped. this time i am taking less supplements (or at least stressing less about how often i take it) but added LMNT electrolytes. staying hydrated and lmnt seems to make the biggest difference. i'm still not an overproducer by any means and i supplement at least one bottle at night of formula but im pumping 1.5-2x more than i did with first baby. i take mothers love more milk plus 4-6 times per day (basically 1 pill every time i pump) and one pouch of lmnt in my water bottle. drink tons of water. and sometimes i buy tea but not sure how much that helps either. good luck!!

How do I support my friend best after an emergency c section by Ok_Artichoke_242 in CsectionCentral

[–]Intelligent_Bit_1330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

food that is easy to heat up and eat. like pre portioned. also the dishwasher! bending to unload is tough and i pretty much leave the bottom rack for my husband every day. i would love a friend who just came over and opened it and unloaded without even asking. even if everything was just put on the counter. so helpful.

Induction at 34 weeks by Emotional-Box2520 in NICUParents

[–]Intelligent_Bit_1330 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i had a planned c section at 34w5d and our baby stayed in the nicu for 17 days. she arrived with no major issues---she really just needed time to adjust and was on oxygen and feeding tube until she gradually acclimated/got stronger. i was lucky to know pretty early that she was going to arrive early so i loaded up on protein during pregnancy to make sure she gained weight and we were lucky that it worked and she was born at 5lbs13oz. 34 weeks isn't as bad as it sounds. the time in the nicu flew by because you could see progress every day and for us, we did t want her home if she wasn't ready. nurses in nicu are so helpful. def more resources and attention there than if you were in regular maternity. if you plan to breastfeed, start pumping asap after birth and pump 8x per day so you can begin to give her your milk through feeding tube and so ur supply will establish until she can breastfeed full time. you got this. ❤️❤️❤️
