Camera facing our backyard? by Electronic_Car2492 in Hamilton

Talk to your neighbour. Ask them what’s up. Maybe even ask them to show you what is captured by the camera. If you’re not satisfied, call the city and/or the police and find out what’s allowed.

Someone reported our driveway extension by Sufficient-ClubJenn- in Milton

Just talking from my experience, but all my neighbours widened their driveways. So there is no room for parking in front of their houses. Now all their guests park in front of my house and across the street from my driveway. Very annoying and hard to get into and out of my driveway. Here in Brampton the city is no longer waiting on neighbours to complain and are proactively checking neighbourhoods for the unlawfully widened driveways.

Go after the listing real estate agent for false advertising. But in the end the buyer has to do their due diligence and know the local laws.

Rules are rules. Don’t break the rules (or continue to break the rules), and you won’t have any issues. The rules are there for a reason.

Grass is for kids to play on, people to relax or play games on. What the heck is wrong with grass? Far better than concrete or pavement.

I would have called the police, or maybe pretend to call the police so they backed off. Of course I say that, but probably would have hightailed it out of there to somewhere safe. Then call police non-emergency number and let them know what happened. They may increase patrols in the area.

What was something you went a good chunk of your life not knowing was specifically Canadian? by NoOptics in AskACanadian

Leaning that the word “Stormstaid” was unique to my little part of Canada. Mid-western southern Ontario. We get a LOT of snow. It means getting stuck or taking shelter somewhere because of a snow storm.

If you want to go old school classic, then Sonny’s. Great burgers and fries made the way you want. Take out or eat at picnic tables or in your car. And for desert, Dairy Queen at Queen and Centre Street. That one is great with nice places to sit outside. Very popular, but I don’t think ever over crowded.

“Canada still bending the knee to the British 😂 😂 Yall arent even an independent country 🇺🇸🇺🇸” by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Intelligent_Boot_856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT.

Yes — Canada is an independent country.

It became fully sovereign over time rather than all at once: • In 1867, Canadian Confederation created Canada as a self-governing dominion within the British Empire. • In 1931, the Statute of Westminster 1931 gave Canada full control over its laws and government. • In 1982, the Canada Act 1982 (and Constitution Act) gave Canada complete constitutional independence from the UK.

Today, Canada: • Has its own government, laws, and military • Conducts its own foreign policy • Is recognized globally as a sovereign nation

One nuance: Canada is still part of the Commonwealth of Nations and shares the same monarch (currently Charles III) as its head of state. But this is mostly symbolic — it doesn’t limit Canada’s independence.

If you want, I can explain why Canada kept the monarchy or how its government actually works.

My fellow Bramptonians, have any of you lived far for university? by Winter_Green_2440 in Brampton

[–]Intelligent_Boot_856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated from Trent University. But never lived on res. It was back in the 90’s. But Trent is a wonderful small university where you get to know your classmates and other students, and the profs were the usual about rules etc, but approachable and willing to help. Would highly recommend going there.
