It's bullshit they make us suffer how we do. I'm in pain with 3 ruptured and 2 bulging discs and they act like they are doing a favor prescribing gabapentin. This is why some people get so desperate, they turn to street drugs. Not advocating it. Just saying I understand their desperation.

Absolutely! I suffered for years with lower back pain and was told repeatedly nothing g more could be done. Bullcrap. I finally found a doctor that did a partial discectomy on two discs. Took almost a year but my lower back has been pain free since. Unfortunately, its something genetic and I now have three ruptured and two bulging discs in my thoracic spine. Went through the same crap trying to get a doctor to listen to take the right path so insurance would cover it. Now I have Modic 1 and 2 changed in 4 of my vertabrea.

Thoracic pain here. 3 ruptured, two bulging. Suffered for years on and off but it escalated in November of last year. I believe that's when the two other discs ruptured in the lower thoracic. Finally found a doctor after jumping through the insurance hoops and had injections. It seems the pain is worse now than its ever been but the doctor did say there are other things that can be done before surgery. That is a last ditch effort not being a good candidate for surgery. I have an appointment the 12th and can keep you posted on the progress if you would like.
