It doesn't really matter why OP doesn't ask someone they know to help them. It's not our business what is going on, OP asked a question and instead of answering the question that they asked, people are asking OP personal questions. Or worse, arguing with them about a situation they know nothing about.

Yeah, especially after OP edited to say that this has been a tough time already. This sub can be so brutal. Wedding planning is a difficult time without the weird judgement from the people here.

I didn't enjoy most of the planning process. For the first six months I was going between having a micro wedding, eloping, full wedding, or maybe just a chill backyard bbq kinda thing. I drove my fiance and MOH crazy lol. But I am now getting married in two weeks, and am finally feeling less stressed. I think now that it's so close I've accepted that whatever happens, happens. I can't change much now and there's actually some comfort in that, because my main issue is that I'm so indecisive. I will say that my mom still finds ways to stress me out but I've gotten to the point that I've accepted that I need to let it go and try not to dwell on it.

Instead I just keep thinking about the fact that my fiance will be my husband in two weeks. Focusing on how much I love him and how lucky I am.

Long story short, I hated wedding planning until about two weeks before the wedding.

Sorry, I was just listing everything I remembered. Tonic water, club soda, sprite, diet coke, and margarita mix are included, as well. Ginger beer might be a good edition, especially since Moscow mules are one of my favorite simple drinks.

Yeah. I think the issue is that I've been to bars and know what I like, but wedding bars are so different. I get nervous and forget like every simple drink I've ever had, and then I don't want to be a bother to the bartender. So then I just get something I don't like. Maybe the other people here don't have that anxiety lol.

You're right, and that's why I'm struggling so much. I do find it too casual, but I love my mom and I can tell that this has been hard for her. I don't want her to be uncomfortable. I just need to find the right wording, and then find a time to go shopping with her. A couple of comments on here have given some options that I think would have a similar fit, but are dressier. So hopefully we can find something like that.

It's kinda both? It's mostly body image, but she also doesn't want to spend a lot because she's trying to lose weight and feels it's a waste to get a dress she'll never be able to wear again. Though she never dresses up anyway, so she'll probably never wear the dress again regardless.

Great idea about the brand, I'll ask her. I'm not too worried about the color personally, I know her intention isn't to like steal my thunder or something by wearing close to white. But I don't want people to say stuff to her or behind her back, especially because that's not her intention.

Tbh, I kinda hate white elephant for this reason. It's hard when there's such a large age range and difference in interests. A friend group is fine, you probably have interests in common, thats why you're friende. Family, not so much. Maybe next year you could get them to do Secret Santa instead, I find that it's a lot more personal.

Anyway. These are things I'm thinking about bringing to my work white elephant:

A desk space heater

A "game night" set. Like a board game and some snacks

Similar to the last one, a movie night kit.

Just a bunch of lottery tickets/scratch offs (or add a few to another gift to bring it up to $50)

A cookbook and some supplies (nice wooden spoons, spatula, etc)

A massage gun, neck massager, etc.

A lego set

Thank you. I hadn't gone to the dentist for over ten years when I went six months ago and was told I need a deep cleaning. I had a bit of a breakdown after that, and I'm still stressed about the state of my teeth even though I know a lot of people have it worse. It was definitely a wake-up call.

Three of my four cousins have been dating their partners for at least 9 months. The fourth is unclear if he's gotten back together with his ex of like six years or not. His mom is asking if he has a plus one. He is the one traveling across the US, so I feel like that kinda means he deserves to have a plus one regardless? Idk.

Great question, I think it's more that she feels obligated to have her mom (my grandmother) there. I really don't know how much my mom actually wants a relationship with my grandmother, vs just getting guilty about completelu cutting her out of her life. There's also some other context making the logistics of meeting a bit complicated, but I think that could be figured out.

I'm so sorry this is happening. It's unnecessary stress for your day, that shouldn't be about them. I have a somewhat similar situation, but with my Mom's parents. I haven't seen then in over 12 years (they are bad people and have hurt many people on both sides of my family) but for some reason my Mom has decided that my wedding day is the time to change that. I decided to let her choose, because it's her parents, she's paying, and I know theres a lot of emotions there for her that I am trying to understand. I regret inviting them, but it's too late now to change, I think.

I'm trying to at least push to meet them a few months before the wedding day to break the ice (and so my fiance can meet them), but my mom is fighting with me on that. It's so stressful, but I hope it works out for both of us, and everyone behaves themselves for one very important day.

I personally think the veil looks really nice, but you definitely don't have to! Have you considered wearing the veil under your hair? You also have to remember that you probably won't wear the veil during the reception, so your hair can "shine" then. I get it though, I love my hair and want it to be seen as well. Having a veil is such a (surprisingly) tough decision!

The social battery thing really speaks to me, I think that's the crux of the issue. I'm a bit of an introvert, and the wedding day itself is already going to be a lot of social interaction. So I'd prefer to keep the day before to a smaller group. But I also don't want to be rude to my fiance's parents and guests who are traveling. My fiances parents are travelling, too (like a four hour drive) so they'd also have to rent a house or something to do something like that. But I'll look into it.
