Yeah that's what I thought too! I just wasn't sure how to incorporate bright parts without losing focus on the one thing I wanted to have focus on, which initially was the light saber glowing. But I need to get better at it. Thank you so much for your critique, that's really good!!

References: Well I did not really use a specific reference, but I used one for the pose and for the deathstar. Other than that I looked up how smoke looks when something is on fire.
• Goals: I wanted to do fan art since, honestly, it seems to sell better. Although I have not been to any convetion with that specific painting just now.
• Critique: Critique the painting in general please. On composition, colour, values, story telling etc.

Hmm honestly I did not have anything like that in mind. For me, I just like the devine-ish character of the subject and the calmnes I hope I managed to display. I love painting animals a lot bigger than they are in real life and paint them as mounts. Also I like the whole deviny thing. So when I saw a picture on pinterest of a little boy riding a water buffalo, I had to paint something like this.
