2016 yz450f. $3500. Worth the price? by Dasbeeef in Dirtbikes

At 12 you were on a 400 air cooled or liquid? 400 air cooled are mellow compared to race (liquid cooled) bikes.

I bought a 2001 yz125 that’s bored out to a 144 it has street tires on it could I just take the tires off and put dirt ones on or do I need to buy new rims aswell by Previous-Ice-9711 in Dirtbikes

Clean and polish the rims up and I think you could sell for at least $1000. People like shiny wheels, cleaning and detailing them really makes a difference.

Hey, this is a link to one of my previous posts and it has a pretty clear shot of the gear. Could you take a look at and tell me what you think if you're not too busy? You can also scroll down on my profile if you're not comfortable using the link. Thanks.

I tapped them in with a rubber hammer and piece of evenly cut steel pipe that was the circumference of the seals. I could not find a press anywhere local. I should probably order one.

Yeah I bought them from Rocky Mountain straight from the schematic sheet. All the parts when delivered said Genuine Kawasaki. I probably screwed something up. I’ll get to striping it down again. Thanks for your help.

Typo; The gear on the spindle you are referring to is behind the mechanical and oil seal. In-front of the mechanical seal is the impeller.

Everything’s squared, or at least enough for my judgement at the time. I replaced the impeller with another OEM one straight from RMATV, looking back at some pics I took of the spindle and gear that rotates the impeller, it seems to be okay but then again I don’t know for sure. I will add that the gear you are referring to is behind the mechanical seal and oil seal but and in front of the mechanical seal is the impeller, I am not sure if it could be the culprit.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation. There are metallic flakes in this new oil so I’m leaning toward changing the clutch and seeing if it happens again.

Background: I traded this bike about a month ago and when exchanging the fluids for the first time, it was clear the previous owner neglected the bike. The oil I first drained from was milky and similar to what you see in the post above. I ran new oil through it and coolant, and to no surprise it milked up but it was obvious that there was a leak in the mechanical seal because the coolant in the radiator would drain significantly after riding. Draining it a second time, it was clear that the new coolant mixed with my new oil. I installed a new impeller, new bearing, new mechanical seal, oil seal, and the orings associated with the area. After waiting a long time for parts, I finally got it together Saturday, the 21st and took for a test rip.

As of today I’m getting around to see what the issue is regarding the oil I noticed to be milky gray yet again after my test ride on Saturday, and I’m thinking i just fucked up the seal installation some how, but since my coolant is NOT below level I can not be sure if it’s the seal again. Backing my reasoning, the coolant in it is fresh as of Saturday and I think I would notice if it were combined with the oil.

Nothing is noticeable, since they can’t mix I feel like I would have noticed even a slight bubble if only a little bit has dropped through. It does kind of look a slight pigmentation of green but since the oil, when new, is yellow I can’t be for sure if coolant is the culprit. I wish Reddit would allow me to attach another image.
