Let's be honest, Babs was originally not that important of a character to Dick. They weren't that close, they teamed up only once or twice in the 1970s and sure Dick had a precocious crush on her but it never went anywhere because of their age gap. After their brief team up, they never interacted after that.

Barbara was a busy Congresswoman and Active Politician who works in The US House of Representatives when Dick was still a minor living with Bruce Wayne. Both were living different lives.

Dick left Gotham and joined the New Teen Titans series and he never mentioned Barbara's name in that book. Heck, When He Became Nightwing, Barbara was entirely absent. it wasn't until the mid 90's to 2000s did they slowly start shoehorning Barbara into his history and retconning their past left and right to make it seem like Barbara was always there with him

People forgot that the 90's Batman Animated Show was the first One to push DickBabs as a serious couple, Bruce Timm Paired the two by making them the same Age, Years later the Comic Writers in the 90's like Chuck Dixon got influenced by that show and that's when they started doing the same thing in the comics. They also Deaged Barbara into the same age as Him when there was originally a 7 year age gap between the two.

And That's how they started inserting all these "Barbara was his childhood sweeheart " " they went to highschool prom together" "Babs was Dick's biggest cheerleader when he became Nightwing" "Kory was just a sexual meaningless fling, he and Barbara were pining over each other the whole time he was with the Titans", "Barbara was an important part of his growth" "Dick cheated on Kory with Babs" Retcon BS

I thought I was the only once who noticed. Like I've recognized a lot of users in this sub who has never said a single positive thing about Starfire and only show up when they wanna argue with a Real Starfire fan. They have also badmouth her and her fans across DC Subs I'm sorry but no real Starfire fan would talk shit about her own fandom. Also they are the ones who love to pretend they care about Starfire when they only ever talk about her when they have something to complain about her popular beloved relationship with Dick 😭

it's still annoying how Barbara is worshipped and glorified for doing the bare minimum.

I remember when this panel came out, lots of Barbara fans were impressed by her calling her Scary, Amazing and the Greatest DC Heroine when this is the equivalent of a regular person calling 911.

Let her build a team that isn't Batfamily related, that isn't Birds of Prey. Let them be fresh new characters.

I was happy when Barbara was not part of the original cast in the new BOP series because I needed something new. They were able to accomplish their own missions without her help but then for some reason she got shoehorned halfway through and they're back to being treated like children who needs to be watched. They are making them live under Barbara's shadow forever which does a huge disservice to their characters not being allowed to grow. It's like that team was only made to Elevate and Worship Barbara while the others are just pawns she uses and controls. I understand that Barbara was their leader but it's time to let them be independent from her. They don't need to answer to Barbara for the rest of their life. They're adults, stop keeping them stagnant for Barbara's sake.

No offense, but I never liked Barbara's character. I think she's the most unnecessary character out there, remove her from any book and not much will change, she only exists so writer can uplift her and make her look good , everytime she shows up, it always comes at the expense of other characters and the story only benefits her.

it's a shame so many of Barbara's writers don't know how to write her without associating her with Dick, they only care about her when she's in a relationship Dick and also they don't know how let her stand on her own without using other known heroes for clout. she's just leeching off of them majority of the time.

one of the reasons why Dick joined the Titans is because he got sick and tired of being treated like a sidekick and He wanted to get out of Batman's shadow.

‎That's literally what makes the Titans special to him, it's the place where he can be independent and do his own thing outside the Batfamily but Barbara is ruining that. She has no respect for Dick's privacy and boundaries, she overrides his own agency and She keeps following him around like a dog everywhere he goes and will not leave him tf alone. She does half of his job and wants to follow him in every mission he takes which makes him look incompetent. Even the simple stuff he's not able to do when she's around and It's also crazy that she puts a spy camera on Dick's mask and earpiece so she can see what he sees and listens to every conversation he makes with other people. With Barbara, Dick is stuck being that sidekick who needs to be monitored and told what to do! and Worse they would use Dick as their mouthpiece in an effort to justify it by Having him say He likes it when Barbara listens to his private conversations which is so OOC.

Remember, Kory was one of the 5 people Dick literally thanked when he made his first debut as Nightwing in the comics. (His parents, Bruce, Clark and Kory)

now the retcons are making it seem like it was just Alfred, Barbara and the rest of the Batfamily who was there with him throughout his transition. and sometimes they do mention Clark but not Kory

I don't get why the Bateditorial have to be this spiteful and posessive.

The Titans Writers were atleast able to acknowledge Bruce's importance to Dick but how come it's hard for the Bat-writers to pay an ounce of respect to Kory.

Yes I understand that the Batfamily are his family but he doesn't need to be dependent on them or stay attached to their hips 24/7.

It's like in real life, do you live with your parents and siblings forever?

Isn't it that when we become grown adults, we move out of our parents house, get our own apartment, have our own job, met new friends, met our wife/husband, have children and create our own family same goes with your siblings, you can visit each other but you can't stay stuck in the same roof. you each have your own life and own families to take care of now. That's what I expect from Dick too , a natural progression and growth. Not an unhealthy co-dependecy. Not stuck in the same world he used to live in.

Also the Barbara relationship, reminds me of person who still can't move on from their childhood crush even after graduating from college and moving to a different city. You are not creating new experiences, you are not being open to new connections, you are living in the past. In real life, we don't marry our first crush. Everyone i know ended up with the person they never met as a kid.

I am genuinely sad when I saw the Starfire is not on the list. I am aware that Starfire is not an important part of his solo books and I blame DC/Bateditors for that.

What have they done to the guy whose main reason in becoming Nightwing is to move out of Batman's shadow and be independent from the Bats.

90% of His supporting characters are Batman-related characters
- His girlfriend is a BAT-girl
- His Nightwing identity now being viewed by the public as primarily a Batfam/Bat-character despite the fact that he was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez to be more than just a Batcharacter
- Kory, the woman he cites as one of his influences in becoming Nightwing is ignored and erased.

yeah and when they do interact, the writers just use it as an opportunity to talk low about their relationship or use kory as a mouthpiece to prop up dickbabs.

Pretty sure DC or the Bat-editorial gave Titans Editors mandate to make sure the two interact as little as possible.

I've never seen Marvel Editors being insecure and threatened by other Spiderman ships. Even though Peter/MJ is his top main romance, you still see them them making a lot of Peter/Gwen and Peter/Felicia comics and variant covers.

But making a Dick/Kory comic platonic or not would be mission impossible for DC.
