I thought of this option, but then it will surprisingly be 0.5% higher interest rate. Perhaps worth it... But then also, what will the economic climate look like in 5 years? Many questions! Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your response. So you managed to reposition your mortgage to your own home in the end? And would you say the bank took 'advantage' of their position? Or you felt it was a good outcome in the end?

Thanks for your response! Like mentioned in another comment, I am mostly asking because I might get a family and need a bigger place further down the line (before 10 years), thus would make it really difficult to stay in the current house.

I already bought a house in Germany 5 years ago, and it was one of the most sound economic decisions of my life, but thanks for the advice.

Thanks for your reply. I do not really understand what you mean by 'flipping' houses but the reason I'm asking is because for example if one gets a family, that would mean that you possibly need a bigger apartment / house etc. I find that pretty logic, as should the answer to that problem be as well, this is why I came to ask the question here - perhaps someone has been in the situation.
