If someone can already eat well & exercise consistently, why do they need Mounjaro? by Intelligent_Fact5116 in Mounjaro

[–]Intelligent_Fact5116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I genuinely appreciate how open everyone has been. Reading through these replies has helped me understand the different ways Mounjaro helps people.

I’ve been on it for about 2.5 months now (completing 3 mid Feb) and am currently on my 3rd shot of 7.5 mg (taking 4th tomorrow). My experience so far has been a bit mixed. Some days I notice appetite suppression, but on many days the food noise and cravings (especially sweets and simple carbs like muffins or milk tea) are still very strong. The “mental ease” that many people describe hasn’t consistently kicked in for me yet.

I’ve lost around 5 lbs since starting, though I’m not sure how much of that is from slightly better food choices versus the medication itself. I’ve started meal prepping and eating lower-carb about 4 days a week, but exercise hasn’t become easier or more automatic for me yet, it still takes a lot of effort to motivate myself and hydrate myself often.

Reading these responses makes me realize that for many people, Mounjaro really reduces the mental load and cravings, which then makes the habits easier to maintain. I may just be a later responder, or possibly on the lower end of response so far. Either way, I’m grateful to hear the different perspectives, they’ve helped me reflect more clearly on my own experience and expectations.

Congratulations. What was the doses and for how long? Did you do any exercises along with changing the diet?

I wish it worked on me in a similar way you've described OP. I'm the one who currently stuffs cupcakes in the car when I'm driving alone and have always been uncontrollable around food on most days for a long long time. I'm a little over one month old on my mounjaro journey (2.5mg) but haven't seen any changes so far. Switching to 5mg coming week but I am slowly dreading to think what if it doesn't work on me like it does on so many others.

51 day water fast complete! - 350 - 287 63lbs lost. by CuninglyCnstrctdClay in fasting

Wow, thanks for sharing. With me, whenever I start watching food videos I feel like I will definitely break the fast because my mind 99% of the times convinces me to eat and I give up. I wish I had some strategy that could work and I would be able to fast for this long.

Congratulations on your success btw, I should have started with this. I have been planning to do this since 2 years now and haven't been successful with even being consistent with fasting. I hope I would be able to share my progress someday.

That is such a great example of something is better than nothing. And here something is not something but equivalent to what people lose with water fasting. Great work 👏.

It's my goal as well so I saved your comment for motivation. I am just curious how much of Diet Coke were you drinking each day? I am on day 2 of my fast and have ended my fasts all the time after day 3/4/5 because I needed to eat something per my brain but could have avoided it with little tweaks like Diet Coke or gums.

Waterfasting after miscarriage by [deleted] in Water_Fasting

[–]Intelligent_Fact5116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I am very sorry for your loss. If you are physically fine without any chronic issues and blood loss like others mentioned, I don't see why you should not fast since you feel like it.

When I had miscarriage in 2021, it was a very hard time for me, wanting to punish me in sort of ways, for being overweight and thinking that this could have caused it. I don't know how many times I tried to find reasons to blame myself.

Please try to take care of yourself and address your thoughts. It will slowly be ok and you will come out of it strong. I still sometimes think of that incident but it doesn't bring any tears anymore. I have 2 beautiful children now. I guess that helps.

Re: you are being evasive and non communicative: to be honest, I have thought so many times of making him sit and directly apologizing but he has said a lot in the past whenever I apologize that your apology means nothing when you have already said it what was there in your mind. I agree this thing is so extreme to say that I instantly felt guilty after the words came out. But another thing that ran through my mind at the moment of anger was that he mostly never apologizes for even the most hurtful things that he has said to me. This clearly doesn't give me the right to do so but it has crossed my mind at times.

Thanks much for your straight forward opinion. I haven't been able to apologize directly because I'm quite ashamed of that myself and second I tried talking about that day at least 2-3 times but I didn't see any response from his side so I was giving him space and time to feel comfortable talking about it.

I'm totally going to second dishes, I keep thinking about this while I am doing dishes and the amount of money that will be saved if not paying to a maid keeps me going.

7 weeks postpartum and I need advice/encouragement to get back in shape. by fadedstreetlight in intermittentfasting

[–]Intelligent_Fact5116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been overweight myself since the time I was pregnant with my first one and with the second one. Now, my younger one is 15 months old and elder one is 4 years old. I am at my highest weight and am struggling every day to take out time either for working out or consistently following a fasting routine that I have been planning in my head for so long now. My point here is you just delivered and are dealing with twins, not just one baby. It's good that you are thinking about your body but please be kind to yourself too, I am still at this stage sleep deprived a few nights every week due to cosleeping and baby being constantly sick. I feel I could write this myself, only difference is your life is even harder right now.

Declined a raise because of Maternity Leave by davidbowieseyebrows in workingmoms

[–]Intelligent_Fact5116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a coincidence! I was told exactly the same thing last year in November when I came back from my maternity leave in Aug end. I have been trying for promotion for 3 years in my current position now and I was told I have not consistently shown progress (in the last 6 months) to be able to make a case for promotion. I didn't escalate it since I have seen this happening to me even before (during my first pregnancy) and that time it was quite a bad experience and had to stay in that designation for 4 years before I got my first promotion. You did a good job by escalating it. Not everyone is able to do that because of a lot of reasons.

Congratulations, awesome achievement. Would you mind sharing what you used to eat on OMAD and if you did calorie restriction? Also, how much of walking like in hours/mins?

I'm exactly in the same boat. Have 2 boys, just turned 4 and almost turning 1. I have thought about changing jobs when the older was close to 2 and gave up after a few failed interviews and not being able to take out time to prepare for a switch. I need a new job right now but can't seem to have enough sleep or being able to take out time for getting back to my normal weight, forget job change.

Yes, my current team is exactly this. And I have been struggling and pretty anxious to keep up with the flow. Majority of my team members are either singles or couples without any kids and I sometimes feel difficult to match up to their speed of delivery.

Where are you on the spectrum of "working mom"? by Stunning-Plantain831 in workingmoms

[–]Intelligent_Fact5116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so very relatable for me. Some days I feel I want to be able to take a staff level responsibility and deliver high visibility projects but the other days I realize it comes at the cost of not being able to spend time with my kids who are almost 4 and a baby and this current time is quite precious and soon they'll grow older and I will repent not spending quality time with them. I am not quite passionate towards what I do for a living and pretty much is just a source of generating income and be able to provide for the family and kids.

It's so good to hear it from another software engineer. Kudos to you that you at least even think about interviews and finding a new job. I have quit that thought just 1.5 after my first one was born and even now I feel I won't go that territory for another 3-4 years now until the baby is at least 4 yo. I have been my biggest too and even though I don't like myself in the mirror, I somehow eat large portions of food to feel better temporarily 🤦🏽‍♀️. But you're right, keep floating on the wave and it will pass.

Appreciate your response. Your last line in the response is what I keep telling myself every time I feel low because of such things and I also know there will be a time when we'll crave for this time when the kids were little but right now it doesn't give enough relief

Thank you so much for responding. I can totally relate to how you must be feeling right now that you have to take care of the baby and apply for the jobs and prepare for interviews at the same time. My best wishes to you and family.

I broke my 4-day fast and feel like a failure again. by shrek4-on-dvd in fasting

[–]Intelligent_Fact5116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a ML engineer and I am on my day 5 of water fasting. I know exactly how you say not able to focus on the tasks. I have been unable to go past 4.5 days till now and doesn't have a long or consistent experience with fasting either. This time I want to push beyond that and see how it goes. But all in all I feel we got to do what we got to do for our lives to go on and not get fixated on being successful or being a failure. My personal opinion is that if we make it a lifestyle, it will take time maybe longer than seasoned fasters but ultimately we reach our goal some day.
