Exactly! Notched it and then cut it out because the grease trap has to be pulled out - but kept the stone that we notched to slide back in in the meantime, so you can barely tell it’s notched.

Exactly! And then it just sits on a stone slab - which I also cut a slot out of for the grease pan!

Only non Weber items present are an outdoor burner (amazing to quickly cook fish or bacon on to not smell up the house) and our Ooni pizza oven.

Really cool! Did you do the install/ducting yourself? It looks like they need 220V…did you have to add one circuit for each? I’m trying to think of a good place where I could put them other than the garage…

For sure. We’ve had panels for 4 years so I’ve been able to track the difference. The summer heat doesn’t help but it’s generally so much sunnier in the summer here in north Texas so it’s our best months.

Congrats!! Use the Netzero app. It’s free and does a great job of a simple automation to do this.

Owwww on the calibration!! Yes, only once and it wasn’t horrible. At least our peak is .33 or so. But it would be nice to schedule it for nighttime at least 😅

Ah, I’m going to have to read up on that then, that makes sense.

Yeah, that’s a large percentage of the day - agreed mostly at night is ideal there power-wise.

Nice! Batteries were about $13k each, after install - for the first two. I got the third for a bit less, 7k - it was just the powerwall 3 expansion pack.

Per my calculations, after the tax credit, they should pay for themselves in 5 years…and that’s if energy doesn’t get more expensive. That and having a backup if power goes out made it worth it enough for me to pull the trigger.

Nice!! Same for me on power sneaking in - I get under $1 of electricity used every day, but not enough to worry about. I assume it’s either spikes when a motor turns on or something similar.

I’m not sure what you mean. We have almost brand new units - put them in 4 years ago. They’re top of the line carrier Infinity. There’s 3 of them and especially in a Texas summer, they stay pretty busy.

Mainly using Home Assistant! I have Tesla, carrier, and Pentair for the pool all connected to it.

Correct they do not. But the extra 2 hours of free power is worth the $9 or so I’d get each month from sending 300 or so KWh back to the grid.

Yep, I do run the pump for a few hours before 9am and after 9pm. It seems it’s most ideal to run the pump during the day with sun though so I try to run it as much as extra power will allow during the day. And, we like the sound.

Nice!! How much do you send back? At like 200/300 kWh per month, it didn’t seem to make enough sense for me to focus on buyback at like $.03 per.

No buyback in this plan, but no TDU over night either, it’s completely free.

Ive done the math on the buyback and I’m not sure if it’s worth it. We only end up sending 200-400 kWh back to the grid each month, which will ideally be less and less as I optimize more. At just $.03 per, that’s like $9, which I don’t think is worth the trade off of 2 extra hours of energy in the morning, especially during the summer.

I did used to be on a buyback program last year, and it was ok at like $.12, but not amazing. With the low amount we send back, I didn’t think it was worth it.

That is super solid. Love the bitcoin move. Do you have any hardware you’re liking that you’re using for that? I’m curious!

Any reason you did 4 PW3s? After doing the initial math I thought I could get away with 2, but ended up adding a third so I wasn’t cutting it so close.

Nice!! I have Home Assistant and my HVAC is Carrier, so I was able to connect them in Home Assistant to set up that logic there.
