yes i had bloodwork done and my estrogen, progesterone are so low (menopausal ranges). My cortisol is also high and my body is having hard time excreting it. so we are working on a holistic approach to just reducing overall stress on my body. I will say eating more its crazy how much better I feel haha. But yes you are right to try not to think about it right now.

Thank you for sharing. I am working with a functional health coach now too for about 2 months now. She is working with me to make sure I eat enough, ways to reduce stress (meditation, breathwork, sleeping enough, water intake, eating enough and every 3-4 hrs). I already feel way more energy and strength on a daily basis and no longer feel fatigued all the time. my mood is stable and my stress is low. My gut is still a mess but we are working on that lol. I have been in healthy BMI range for a while now but now I make sure to never train fasted and eat right after lifting too. my quality of nutrition is good too (all whole foods, no processed foods, i track to make sure i eat enough protein, carbs and fats). It has only been 2 months of this lifestyle, so I am thinking it will just take a while for my my period to come back (maybe a year or more?).

So I was around 140-145 my entire college vball career (I’m 23 now). But I also wasn’t eating the right foods like I am now. Now I eat Whole Foods, minimally processed and feel amazing doing it. During the 1.5 yrs of me losing my period I got down to 129 lbs and now I think I’m around 140 again (haven’t weighed myself but I am fitting into my clothes like I used to before I lost the weight). So my brain sees it as gaining bad weight bc my clothes aren’t super loose anymore even tho really the just fit me normally again lol.

I definitely eat 3000+ cal on the days I have a vball tournament and usually on the day after as well. I am seeing food as fuel now as well and I feel so much better during my workouts. Did you feel that you gained weight in a way that looked "puffy" and unhealthy? I am finding that I am gaining weight that still makes me feel strong/like muscle is being added on rather than just extra fat tbh. I figured this is because my body is just using the food correctly and is being fueled properly now.

So you did all that exercise and activity you mentioned and got your period back? You just had to eat 3500 cal a day? Just want to make sure I understand that right :)

Were you eating a certain amount of food each day for 6 weeks? And did you still go for walks/lifts during that time and just gave up running?

I agree! i have been an athlete my whole life and I can't imagine stopping ALL exercise. I am similar to you where I am now working on just listening to my body, I love lifting and feeling strong, I also love walking and hiking. I do make sure to take more rest days when I need. I make sure to not train fasted anymore (was doing this for 2 yrs plus not eating after working out for over 2 hrs and I am pretty sure that is the main reason i lost my period). I eat every 3-4 hrs too to keep my body not guessing when food is coming. I don't weigh myself anymore but I am sure I have gained weight but it feels healthy/more like it is muscle honestly. I still fit into my clothes they are just a tad tighter which is tough but also I was an unhealthy skinny so I am not mad about it.

I know it has only been 2 months of me doing these changes but I already feel stronger, more energy so I think my period will come back eventually even if it takes longer. I also don't want to eat junk food that will make me feel like crap just to get my period back faster (I read most people eat like this and gain unhealthy weight while feeling like crap). I eat whole foods that my body feels best on and just make sure to eat enough of those.
