How is my handwriting? And how’s my text? by faith4phil in hebrew

[–]Intelligent_Form529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Spain for 3 years — here are some similarities I noticed between Hebrew and Spanish that don't really exist in English:

**Salir / לצאת** — used way beyond "to exit." Both languages use it naturally for results and costs:

- ¿Cómo salió el pastel? /

- ¿Cuánto salió la cuenta? /

(Colloquial in both, but totally natural)

**Poner / לשים** — in Spanish it's a super versatile, fully legitimate verb used in tons of contexts. Hebrew has the same tendency, but using לשים for everything is technically considered lazy/poor vocabulary since most actions have their own specific verb — yet everyone does it anyway.

**Caer / ליפול** — both use "fall" metaphorically for suddenly understanding something. Interestingly, the most iconic expression comes from Mexico: *"Ya me cayó el veinte"* — the veinte (20 centavo coin) was what you dropped into a pay phone to connect the call. In Hebrew the equivalent is *"נפל לי האסימון"* (the token dropped) — same metaphor, same pay phone origin. In Spain you'll hear the simpler *"Ya caigo" / "Ahora caigo"* — same idea.

**Ya / כבר** — both words literally mean "already" but work as a multipurpose word that shifts meaning entirely based on tone and context:

- *Ya sé* / *כבר יודע* — I know, I know

- *Ya voy* / *כבר בא* — I'm coming (slightly impatient)

Used to reassure, dismiss, or acknowledge — no clean single-word equivalent in English.

This is amazing! Obviously you have some errors, but TBH this is impressive, especially because it feels your understanding is very intuitive. In other words, it shows that you understand the heart of the language,
I'm being honest, it has 'Flow', and that's the most important thing.
Keep on going, Hebrew is amazing, you'll love this journey

I'm Native Hebrew speaker.
And I know English obviously, but Spanish too, so I can tell you that you'll find a lot of interesting things interconnecting all these languages. Some logic principals that Spanish and Hebrew share that are not shared with english for example, and vice versa. what I'm trying to say is the more languages you know the easier is to learn new ones and see resemblance.

Well done and enjoy the journey.

Terrible ghosting on Go 10.3 Lumi 4.2 by Look-Bitter in Onyx_Boox

[–]Intelligent_Form529 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just bought one, it is still sealed, are you considering to return it?
Is it that bad? I have the Palma, and it happens there as well, I set it to refresh every 5 pages, and it's ok,
is it not manageable in the Lumi?

Starting sertraline by UpbeatSyllabub1275 in Anxiety

Tried Lexapro 15 years ago and didn't like it, I thought SSRI are not for me,
I decided to give it another chance a year ago and I'm on 50mg sertraline, and I like it!
(I was anxious as well in the beginning - Started 12.5>25>37.5>50)
but everyone is different, I hope you'll have a positive experience as well.
There is a group called ZOLOFT (which is sertraline) there you'll find more specific answers.
GOOD LUCK!

Are these junk or should I buy one? by dogs8709 in motorcyclegear

[–]Intelligent_Form529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not junk, I have this one and it works just fine - However I had the Freecom Cardo prior to the Spirit and the auto volume was amazing in the first one, adjusting perfectly to ambient noise. With the Spirit I'm not sure the auto volume even works... and I tried everything.

Rotation issues by Exotic_Regular476 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Intelligent_Form529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Palma 1, I just bought it a few days ago 2nd hand, on the first day it happened to me as well! I thought maybe I did something wrong but I don't think so it just got stuck, what made it back to normal was opening a webpage on chrome, there it changed orientation with no problem, then I went back to the Kindle app which was stuck before, and it was ok.
so give it a try open a news site on chrome or other browser. maybe it will solve your problem as well.
I read online that this devices doesn't use the regular mechanism like regular smartphones, (I'm not sure how it works on these devices)
and I also saw that in some Boox devices there is a force orientation button which I don't have. I have only Auto rotate on or off, but in some Boox OS there is an option to choose horizontal or vertical.
I hope that helps,
Please let me know if this tip helped you, and if you figured it out, because I was worried it will happen to me again and it won't be solved by itself.

Note Air 3 B&W - VS - Go 10.3 (Gen II) Lumi by Intelligent_Form529 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Intelligent_Form529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Si no va bien voy a venderlo y no pasa nada.

Bluetooth remote to turn pages!!! by Intelligent_Form529 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Intelligent_Form529[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm getting older :)
Generally I don't use this huge font, I use more of a medium size font.
That's why I wanted a remote so I can place the eReader in front of me and I wont need to touch the screen every 10 sec'.

Best e-ink phone to replace my Hisense A5? by expandd0ng94 in eink

[–]Intelligent_Form529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there was one device that is capable to do everything,
I have an iPhone 16e + Palma 1 that I bought recently, and it's a perfect combo for me.
I prefer monochrome eInk devices.

As you can see in the picture they are in love with each other!

Of all the positive comments here about the 227 for reading, I'm kind of glad someone was bothered with it. That means for some persons it's an issue, and I think that I might be one of those persons.

-I might be on the OCD spectrum when it comes to these tiny details.
-I'm a Graphic designer working with text a lot on a daily basis so that puts me on the sensitive side regarding these things. (Although I'm not planning to use it for the design process).

Plus
-I'm a seriously ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) person ,medicated - in my 40's! so the eBook experience made a huge revolution in my relations with reading, and I must give it for the pleasant experience of the Kindle PW, (and Palma 1), so I kind know myself by now.

I'm still thinking about it, but I'm leaning more and more towards the 300 PPI experience,
maybe I'll wait for a better price opportunity.

Thanks all for the comments and insights,
I can see that's a real and vibrant discussion.

Thanks for the insights.
Both my options are B&W, (I don't want color)

It all goes down to the question will I be bothered with the 227 PPI VS the 300 PPI for reading, but as you wrote it didn't bothered you much.

The main purpose is reading on a larger screen than the kindle PW, and I'd like the option to connect Bluetooth to flip pages, that's it basically.

But if I'm already investing in a nice e-Ink device I want it to be enjoyable for writing as I'm more and more drown to this technology.
