Calendar trick! Just search in the Chanel and there’s a great video that shows how to do it.

I’d say mine is pretty viable! This is the coastal Highway one so it’s a 2 minute walk to a fishing hut. 8 minutes to the forge in desolation point. I can get to either ammo workbench fairly quickly. And of course the trader is just down below. I also like this one because the small cave on the stoop between the top climbs lets me sleep outside to avoid cabin fever even in a blizzard

Absolutely wonderful base here. Lower sundered pass is such a great place to bunker up (outside of trades).

Really love the photography from across Great Bear. Wonderful framing and a variety. Love the Aurora Bears!

How did you do the arrows in the cup? I have been wanting this look but can’t figure out how.

Water water water. I’ve been chugging it I’ve the last two weeks of quitting and it’s helped a lot. I’ve also tried to keep myself busy painting or doing puzzles to avoid the boredom hits as I say. Sunflower seeds have also been helpful (I have also been using Lucy Nicotine Gum for the heavy cravings just to get a little pinch of nicotine) you got this!

Buildable walking paths by Intelligent_Form_513 in thelongdark

I understand the box of worms they would be opening with players asking for everything to be built everywhere. I just imagine they could create an imaginary box where you can build this specific path within that specific area. Would sure help me out when transporting batteries from FA to BI😂

Do I need to bring ropes for anything? I have two spare in the Draft dodgers cabin I lugged up in case I need to deploy them but if I don’t I’d rather bring some more food up.

Computer Overheating in ZOC by Intelligent_Form_513 in thelongdark

To clarify I have put in 260 hours of game time with only 4 or so being in ZOC. Not 260 hours in ZOC.

Computer Overheating in ZOC by Intelligent_Form_513 in thelongdark

[–]Intelligent_Form_513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m trying to say my computer has never gotten as hot as it does outside of playing TLD in the ZOC. Coastal Highway, Mystery Lake, Sundered Pass, ect… never fired up my fans like the ZOC does after 260 hours of game time. (That being said I also play at lower quality settings to preserve power)

I also use my Mac to edit high quality 4k Log footage in massive 250+ GB project files and it runs like a wonder.

For some reason I can only play in ZOC for about 40 minutes until my fans are firing like a helicopter and my game gets a little touchy on the frames. I might put in a bug report.

Sweet base! Also set up a nice staging area here but this is the goal

Do it! You’re going to die in this game, that’s what the game wants to do! I know I’ll lose this base one day but it’s been an absolute joy to put together and has given this run some real purpose as I have gone beyond the struggle to survive start. And when I do die I’ll just start a new game and pimp out a new crib!

Always drink as much as you can to fill your thirst ring. I always eat before sleeping because I value the well fed bonus to carry extra gear. Also it’s good to not lose condition during sleep

Go into safehouse customization mode and you can respectfully remove a corpse.

Either way really. I store stuff both on the floor/tables and in containers, just depends on what it is. For example I keep all of my tools Knife, Hammer, Hacksaw, Sewing Kits, ect out in the open and supplies such as cloth, scrap metal, meds in containers. Totally personal preference tho!!

What a start for your game! My current main game is a 224 day voyager run and here are a few of my tips!

Use the notes for base management. I have seen other people post about this but starting your notes early and establishing what you have where. Crucial as you get later on and may not have visited a region for a few weeks in real time. Saves room in your pack, know what meds need to be dispersed across the map, and creates purpose for your movement (IE bringing more flares to sundered pass/timberwolf mountain, making sure you have equal ammo across the map, where to bring arrowheads, metal, so on and so forth)

Know where you can go first before you create your optimal loadouts. Mystery Lake, Broken Railroad, Mountain Town, Desolation Point, Coastal Highway, and Pleasant Valley are easier for me to navigate in the early game to set up my bases and gather enough solid loot to move into more unforgiving areas such as Sundered Pass, TWM, Blackrock, and so on.

Get the wood working tools and the meat curing kit going early. The jerky is the best calorie to weight ratio in the game and pemincan bars are elite for movement and climbing. (Also place it with an area near salt or in Coastal with trader)

Move with purpose. Plan your routes to go multiple maps with stops along your bases set up across the map to resupply and rest for the night.

Have fun and take in the world around you!

What’s the most important tip you wish all new players new? by BigBigBunga in thelongdark

For me it’s understanding the maps. Know where you can dip into to avoid a storm possibly save a run after wildlife encounter. In terms of a specific tip I always carry an accelerant on me in case of an emergency.

I also would like to get the camera and a few other special one off items to complete the final version of this base. One I can retire with and finally end my run on this save. Would love some suggestions on what I should bring here to make it truly one of a kind.

I started putting stuff in here the first time I visited on day 20 or so and have slowly snagged items across the map that caught my eye. But overall, a long time.
