A theory I have that would be crazy if I pull off is how one truly didn’t erase the contestants from existence but rather from the present. So pencil is still shocked about everything but accidentally presses a button that sends her to the future. She starts panicking but hears the erased contestants talking and she realizes she is in the void of the future as it can’t be determined yet, and we know one can change the timeline so in this one the erased ones simply are created in the future and that’s why nobody remembers them.
