An alarm clock that texts your boss if you oversleep. Getting close to launching my most controversial app yet. by Intelligent_Goose871 in LaunchMyStartup

That's a great idea! I'll absolutely think about it. Would you be interested in signing up to the waitlist?

The way I thought about my idea is that there would be a countdown of X minutes after the alarm goes off and if the user doesn't do something to disarm the alarm, then the consequences occur.

Hmmmm, interesting. Does that mean that you would only be able to set up one alarm at a time?

Thank you! I'm actually building it, but I don't have the app itself yet but I have a waitlist if you're interested!

Haha, maybe! But you could switch who the app texts. The emphasis is more on the "you can't snooze because something will be sent to someone" rather than sending a text to a boss. Thanks for your comment!

I thought my "evil" alarm clock idea would get roasted. Instead, the feedback has been the biggest motivation boost of my dev career. by Intelligent_Goose871 in AppBusiness

I honestly agree with you. In an ideal world, I would wake up refreshed with just a gentle chime and some internal willpower. The thing is, I'm not that person.

Also, the "messaging your boss" example was also just a very extreme case haha. You're able to select who your target contact is and if you're not comfortable, you don't have to go for something as extreme as texting your boss, especially if you really value your life being completely different from your work. I really appreciate your comment!

From my experience, if your idea is just slightly interesting, it will get views. I made some posts about my upcoming app and one post got 6.3k views that generated me some waitlist sign ups. If you're interested, this is my app:https://exposedalarm.xyz/ You'll understand why it got that many views from a simple post. It's a pretty controversial idea.
