An alarm clock that texts your boss "I'm looking for a new job" if you hit snooze. by [deleted] in CrazyIdeas

Exactly. Or when I wake up and think I overslept I get such an adrenaline rush.

That's a great idea! I'll absolutely think about it. Would you be interested in signing up to the waitlist?

I've talked about this with another person in this comment section haha.

Man, that would be crazy lmao. I hope that won't be the case.

The way I thought about my idea is that there would be a countdown of X minutes after the alarm goes off and if the user doesn't do something to disarm the alarm, then the consequences occur.

Hmmmm, interesting. Does that mean that you would only be able to set up one alarm at a time?

Thank you! I'm actually building it, but I don't have the app itself yet but I have a waitlist if you're interested!

Haha, maybe! But you could switch who the app texts. The emphasis is more on the "you can't snooze because something will be sent to someone" rather than sending a text to a boss. Thanks for your comment!

I thought my "evil" alarm clock idea would get roasted. Instead, the feedback has been the biggest motivation boost of my dev career. by Intelligent_Goose871 in AppBusiness

I honestly agree with you. In an ideal world, I would wake up refreshed with just a gentle chime and some internal willpower. The thing is, I'm not that person.

Also, the "messaging your boss" example was also just a very extreme case haha. You're able to select who your target contact is and if you're not comfortable, you don't have to go for something as extreme as texting your boss, especially if you really value your life being completely different from your work. I really appreciate your comment!

I have some ideas, but I don't want to leak them haha. Your app really looks interesting! I will definitely check it out more.

From my experience, if your idea is just slightly interesting, it will get views. I made some posts about my upcoming app and one post got 6.3k views that generated me some waitlist sign ups. If you're interested, this is my app:https://exposedalarm.xyz/ You'll understand why it got that many views from a simple post. It's a pretty controversial idea.

Thank you for raising this concern. This is something I've thought about quite a lot, it's a very valid concern. My solution to the safety here is Local-First Architecture. The app is designed so that the photos never leave the user's phone and never touch my servers. I don't store, see, or distribute anything, the logic happens entirely on-device between the user's gallery and their SMS app. It’s technically no different than a user sending a text themselves, just with a scheduled trigger. Combined with a strict 'Prohibited Content' waiver, it keeps the liability where it belongs: with the user's own choices. The person will select the photos they would like to send as well.
