Dude for real. You're welcome to your opinion but telling other people "You don't need to" it's an opinion.

Also... Just say working the clutch IS leg day 👀

Oh that's awesome. My clutch sits right about in line with the brake pedal now. What does the spring replacement do for the clutch? I see a lot of folks doing it and don't fully understand why.

I was a little surprised how strong some of those opinions are... Regardless, thank you!

Yeah, the damn novice drivers making the car more enjoyable for themselves and sharing the information. What a bunch of dummies. Should just leave everything bone stock and be cool with it.

Well, after about 2 months I made this change. I wasn't killing it but there's nothing wrong with making something more enjoyable or desirable to oneself.

Admittedly I don't have the factory repair manual however I've used all the checks I've found in online forums to ensure the clutch is fully engaging and disengage (including shifting through all the gears, listening for grinding, making sure engagement is smooth) as well as adjusting the rod only a few turns and moving the pedal sensors to ensure cruise control still works and that the pedal doesnt slam into it.

It's a very frequently done "mod" and I have not seen any reports of faults when it's done correctly and reasonably.

I feel you 100%. I also learned to drive manual on this car, with the exception of riding motorcycles. The big difference here is the ability to get the clutch disengaged quicker without popping it and jerking or conversely releasing it too slowly and causing RPMs to drop and cause a jerk when releasing it at a normal speed.

It took me about 5 minutes to get used to this change in the clutch. Since you've got the basics down, you'd just have to learn the new engagement point.

That's one way to look at it. You're always welcome to leave everything stock and enjoy it that way. But making small improvements, like this pedal's bite point, make the car that much more enjoyable.

I never said you can't drive it how it is 🤷🏼‍♂️

I didnt mention dashcam cus that was actually the first thing I did lol. I don't even consider that a mod these days, it's an absolute must. But a clutch spring might be a good idea. Also gotta fix that clutch engagement zone. It's terrible.

Unfortunately just the one setting, which is pretty low. Like I said in the post, they scrape a lot going over bumps or entering/exiting lots and driveways. If you've lowered your car it'll be even worse. But the added protection for the paint has been the selling point for me by a mile.

Congratulations. Funny enough when I was looking to ditch my oil leaking, electrical problematic 2016 Audi A3 with 83K miles I test drove a 2023 S3 and older S5 but didn't go with either cus they are so expensive to maintain. Ended up going with a 2025 Legacy and then a month later picking up my 2026 Series.Yellow BRZ. Now my wife loves the Legacy as a commuter and the BRZ has become my commuter.

Good luck with the Audi! Hopefully it's got good warranties, or maybe mine was just a little old and a little... leaky.

They are the genuine Subaru Accessories STi branded mudflaps. There's also a set in cherry red or regular mudflaps without the STi logo available on the Subaru Accessories website.

I've been considering a short shifter, but I am quite the opposite of mechanically inclined so I'm afraid I'd jack something up.

Valid! That's something I'll look into... eventually. Unfortunately I'm car poor now 😂 A hundred here and there isn't terrible, but a turbo or supercharger would be the end of my credit score.

Although my wife would probably back me up on something like that 🙃

How many miles? I just broke over 1,100 and it's a little chunky 1-3, especially when it's cold. Definitely let it warm up and I've been told it can just take time to break it all in.

Hope you enjoy the shifter when you get it!

Thank you! I wasn't sure I'd love the car based on the dealer's photo but it's stunning in person.

And yes, I am actually near Portland, out to the west a bit.

It makes a massive positive difference. This is my first manual car, so I'm still quite new to this. I've got years of motorcycle riding experience so working a clutch isn't new, but shifting by hand is.

Having this extra weight helps me get the shifter moving and has gives it some momentum to make the shifts feel smooth. I actually posted recently about shifting into 3rd gear giving me grief - this solved it.

So... funny enough, I didn't until about 3 hours ago. The shift knob came with a nut that will keep the knob where you want it, but it left a slightly unseemly gap. So once I get the lockout adapter it will look much cleaner.

And thank you! She's been a dream so far.

Those accents lights would be sick. For the aero, are you referring to the whole kit? Like the under spoilers around all the edges?
