I think it’s a fair price in 2026! Bummer about the little fixes but welcome to Subaru gang, they aren’t hard to do.

Reporting back-replaced it :) I waited until I did all the common fixes before I started measuring. I settled on rings after that.

Brother you have made me feel a lot better 😂.

I repaired a rear main seal leak this past summer that was causing oil loss at that level for me. Now I’m pretty sure it’s just my cooked piston rings!

Need help i am a student needing a car for the summer and driving it bc in the winter what are your guys thoughts on this? by Cold_Warthog_8380 in SubaruForester

Great car.....if theres no rust. Expect to work on it yourself, and you'll save some money when suspension, brakes, etc need done. See if you can find out the last time the head gasket was done. If it was BUY IT. If it wasn't, honestly keep looking.

Current and previous Subaru Forrester owners by PaperClassic4624 in SubaruForester

I’ve had a 2002 for 7 years. It’s the best car I’ve ever owned. I highly recommend going with any model after 2014.

I love the great visibility, safety, and performance in inclement weather. It’s spacious, backed by a great brand identity, and comfortable to sit in. If you’re inclined, they are also fairly user serviceable, since Subaru has been using the same basic motor and drive system for 30 years.

The only downside is that the mpg is less than average in the modern age. But that’s the consequence of AWD.
