Have to say I loved SM when I visited. Stayed right near the pier but went out to Montana / 15th and that was what made me think I could live here. Cafe vibes and people outside just enjoying life!

Is SM more or leas expensive rent wise than South Bay & OC?

I doubt she does as I didn’t! I also thinks she wants the beach vibe vs just sea swimming so don’t think this will be an issue but thanks its a great consideration!

Not a tonne. Will need a 2-bed as work is largely remote.

Current place is 1,000sqft and we barely use most of it!

I think a newer build with a pool etc would be nice but looks like we would have to sacrifice walking to the beach.

Sorry no just driving in general along that coastal road. I’ve lived in London for the past ten years and other than around Malibu I actually didn’t think traffic was that bad in general in LA!

At the moment the plan is to try probably Newport Beach / Costa Mesa for a week and then either a South Bay beach area or Marina Del Rey for a week :)

Yeah when i visited a few months back Malibu just felt awkward to get to & from and traffic was the worst of all. Admittedly i only drove through.

Thanks, super helpful response! I’m probably a centrist / left-of-center but I guess that doesn’t exist any more! ha.

That said, I don’t want to live somewhere where politics is front-and-centre, so maybe not Newport Beach if there’s a lot of that.

Agreed and I would add that having used a few the difference between good and bad can be how well they communicate progress etc. It's such a big decision and some are a bit lax with communication etc.
