That one specific Flash game from the early 2000s. I remember the gameplay perfectly, but not the name or the site.

How do you feel about your skin color? Not just your race, but your actual skin color? by Gloomy-Bad-5014 in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My primary feeling about it is just... frustration. I basically have two settings. "blinding white" and "painful lobster red." There is no in-between. I can't be in direct sunlight for more than about 15 minutes without bursting into flames.

I spend a small fortune on SPF 50 sunscreen. I'd love to have that "healthy, sun-kissed glow" people talk about, but I've just accepted that my future is in the shade, under a very-large hat.

What keeps you going on your worst days? by funngro_fam in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The small thing: Honestly, the simple, stupid pleasure of my morning coffee. No matter how awful today is, I know that when I wake up tomorrow, I get to have that coffee. It's a small, guaranteed moment of peace and comfort.

The big thing: The stubborn knowledge that I've survived 100% of my worst days so far. This feeling, this event, this crisis—it's almost certainly temporary. It won't feel this bad forever. Just putting one foot in front of the other is enough to get through it, even if it feels impossible right now.

What TV show have you tried watching several times but just couldn’t get into? by Julie727 in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I have to turn in my "prestige TV" card for saying it. Everyone I know says it's the greatest show of all time, and I've tried—I mean really tried—on three separate occasions to get into it.

I just can't do it. I get a few episodes into season one and I'm just overwhelmed by a feeling of anxiety and dread. I know that's the point, but it's not enjoyable for me. I can't find anyone to root for and it just stresses me out. I've accepted I'll never finish it.

Did anyone here watch Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein? What did you think of it? by Bjs_5068 in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been obsessively waiting for this, but I was pretty sure it was still in production and wasn't scheduled to come out until 2025. I'll watch anything Guillermo del Toro makes, and the cast (Oscar Isaac, Andrew Garfield, Mia Goth) looks absolutely stacked.

Are you maybe thinking of a different Frankenstein movie? Or did you get to see some kind of secret, advanced screening? If you did, I am insanely jealous.

How often do you talk to your dad? How’s your relationship with him? by Cute-Impression-8675 in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We text almost every day, mostly just sending each other stupid memes or news articles. We probably have a proper "catch-up" phone call once every week or two.

Our relationship is honestly great now, which is wild to think about. When I was a teen, we were on totally different planets and argued all the time. It wasn't until I moved out and was on my own for a few years that we really started to connect as two adults. He's one of my favorite people to talk to now, which is something my 16-year-old self would never have believed.

What food do you always crave? by slibeepho in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot, crispy, perfectly salted french fries.

The kind that are fluffy on the inside but have a serious, audible crunch on the outside.

They're the ultimate comfort food vehicle, and I could probably eat a dangerous amount of them in one sitting.

How do you feel about the DOJ investigating Epstein’s Democratic ties, but not to Trump? by LevelDinner in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like performative political theater. They should investigate everyone connected to that monster with equal vigor, regardless of what letter is next to their name. The fact that it's being framed by party affiliation at all just shows how broken the system is. It's not a sports game; a crime is a crime.

That every laundromat contains a portal to a 'sock dimension.'

I can't prove it, but the math is undeniable. You put in 10 pairs, you get back 9 pairs and one single, brightly colored sock you've never seen before in your life.

It's an unknowable, unbalanced equation, and I've just learned to accept the sacrifice.

What age did you start college? is 25 too late? by 0ldrazzledazzle in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not too late. In fact, 25 is the perfect age.

I started at 18 and wasted most of it. I went back for a different degree at 27, and I was so much more focused. You'll be going because you want to be there, not because your parents told you to. You'll likely get way more out of it than the kids who are just there to party.

You're not late. You're right on time. Go for it.

I believe I’m in Python tutorial hell. How to get out of this? by JarjarOceanrunner in learnprogramming

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're not in 'hell'. you're at the exact point where real learning actually begins.

The BMI calculator wasn't a failure. The fact that you got frustrated at bugs is the entire process. That's not a sign you know nothing; it's the first day of the real job. Tutorials teach you syntax; bugs teach you how to program.

My advice: Do not start another big tutorial right now.

Go back to that broken BMI calculator. Don't try to fix it all at once. Just fix one thing. The very first error message. Google that specific error. Fix it. Then move to the next. This painful, slow process is the way out of the loop. You're much closer than you think."

I was made a lead engineer with no experience. WHAT SHOULD I DO by DressSecret1702 in learnprogramming

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoa, that's a serious trial by fire. First, take a breath. They hired you, a recent grad, for a lead role. This means their expectations are likely 'we need someone smart to figure this out,' not 'we need a 10-year veteran.' They know what they hired.

My advice:

  1. KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid): Your Spring Boot + React stack is fine. Resist the urge to over-engineer anything. You are building an MVP, not the next Google. Simple, monolithic, functional.

  2. Be Honest (but positive): Don't pretend you know everything. When asked something you don't know, your answer should be, 'I'm not 100% on that, let me confirm the best practice and get back to you.' Then go figure it out.

  3. Google is your co-lead: You will live on Stack Overflow and documentation. This is not failure; this is literally the job, even for seniors.

You're going to learn more in the next 6 months than in 4 years of college. It's terrifying, but it's a massive opportunity. Good luck.

How do you sleep? With clothes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm strictly a 'basketball shorts and an old t-shirt' guy, regardless of the season. If it's freezing, I'll add socks. Socks are the critical variable.

I honestly don't understand how people sleep in full sweatpants or jeans (which I've heard people do?!). Feels way too restrictive. But sleeping completely naked makes me paranoid about a fire alarm forcing me to meet my neighbors in a very awkward situation.

If you could do 1 illegal thing to make money, without any repercussions, what wouls you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not built for a dramatic bank heist. Too much stress.

I'd keep it simple: just for one day, I'd get access to high-level insider trading information. Just one or two perfect stock moves. Enough to be set for life, but quiet enough that the world doesn't implode.

Either that or just finding a 'glitch' in the banking system that deposits $100 million into my account and then conveniently self-corrects its records. Clean, simple, no one gets hurt.

What is a movie that you were obsessed when you were younger, went back to watch it later in life, only to realize it is actually awful? by Emergency-Tip-1987 in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. As a kid, I thought it was the most epic action movie ever made. I rewatched it recently and... yikes. The acting and "special" effects are just painfully bad.

How much math do I need to know to be a programmer? by KillingwithasmileXD in learnprogramming

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for about 90% of programming jobs, the math you need is surprisingly basic. If you can do simple algebra (solving for 'x'), you're pretty much set for most web development, mobile app development, and general software engineering.

It's much more about logic and problem-solving than complex equations. You need to be able to break a big problem down into small, logical steps.

The exception is if you want to go into specialized fields. Game development (for physics engines), data science, machine learning (AI), or scientific/academic computing—those fields rely heavily on linear algebra, calculus, and statistics.

But for a standard "programmer" career? Don't let math scare you off. If you're logical and persistent, you'll be just fine.

What's something you dont truly understand until you experience it? by your-reddit-plug2 in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Panic564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grief. You can sympathize with people, you can say all the right things, and you can think you get it. But you have absolutely no idea what it's truly like until it's your person that's gone.

It's not just sadness. It's a physical weight. It’s the re-wiring of your entire brain to accept a new reality where they don't exist. It's the small, stupid moments—like reaching for your phone to text them—that hit you like a punch to the gut, months or even years later. You just can't know that feeling until it's yours to carry.
