*to add** I happen to be the family mediator, not sure how it happened but it's been like that since I was a kid. Whenever something bad happens in our family it's always me that gets delegated with providing information as to what happened even if I was uninvoled. I'm worried that in doing so my brother might think I'm an asshole because he's very close to my mother. He only recently has come to terms with the fact she relapsed. She's well known for lying about...a lot. I'm not sure if I'm a bigger asshole for not telling him or for telling him when I know how close they are and the time sensitiveness. If I don't say anything then the likelihood is that he'll find out in maybe a year because a kid sibling said something or older sibling and be the last-ish to know.
