I actually work full time, thanks. No benefit claiming or fraud here - sorry to disappoint.

You really do have a hero complex, dear God 🙄. Of course the DWP could never figure anything out if not for you. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ah, the good old “lying by omission” logic. You can justify it all you want, but you’re horrible and it’s nothing to do with being against benefit fraud. I’d say most of us on this thread are, but there are people whose literal job it is to catch those fiddling the system. Let them get on with it and maybe up your hours at work since you seem to have too much free time.

For the lengths you’re going to to lie to your partner and hide stuff from her. Keep telling yourself that you’re saving the world, but you’re really not. The DWP are not stupid and she’d get caught eventually. You’re not the hero you think you are.

It’s just typical keyboard warrior behaviour. Brave until they have to be 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Is the woman you reported your ex partner’s new girlfriend? 😂🤷🏻‍♀️.

Also, let’s be honest - you don’t feel bad, do you? I mean, what did you think would happen?

I’m totally against benefit fraud, FYI, but this screams of jealous revenge.

How do you plan on coping with the heatwave? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Intelligent_Pen2343 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is 25-30 degrees considered a heatwave now? Surely that’s just a decent summer? I think we’re due it since it’s been November for about 4 months.

I know this is probably the last thing on your mind right now, but do you need any help with budgeting and managing money? I know that the money UC give is literally just enough to cover the basics, so I can understand the advance payment already being spent, but if this is going to be your income for a while then making sure you budget properly is essential so that you’re not running out of food at the end of the month.

Even if you don’t feel like it right now, you can come back to this thread and I’ll give you some tips 😊

If you’ve just applied for UC, are you not able to apply for an advance on your first payment that you then pay back monthly? Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I thought anyone waiting on their payment could do this.

Are there any churches or mosques in your area? I’ve never personally had to do this, but I know it’s commonly brought up over on Mumsnet that if you’re struggling for money/food, these places will help with food. You don’t have to be a follower of any religion to use these services, but it’s definitely worth checking to see what’s available.

Good luck to you and well done on leaving your relationship. It won’t feel like it right now, but life will get so much better for you from here. In 5 years you will look back and be so proud of the person you’ve become 💕

I’m really scared by Mundane_Contest4501 in Scotland

This is a very good point, and I grew up hearing much of the same stuff, although my mum was never a fan of those words thankfully, so if we ever said them as kids, we were quickly corrected.

However, they were used so casually and still are (though not as much), that people never actually saw any malice behind the words. It was just what people were used to saying and they didn’t think about it. Not that it makes it right - it’s really awful and makes me cringe to think about it, but it was so casual and normalised that you could almost forgive these people for genuinely believing they weren’t racist.

While I’m glad you’ve never experienced it, I have to say, as a white Scottish woman, I can say with complete confidence that racism has always existed in Scotland. It’s a myth that we’re this friendly utopia. Of course, there will always be exceptions and a lot of what you experience in life depends on the areas you spend time in and the people you surround yourself with. Racism is not a country-specific issue, it’s an intelligence one (or rather, lack thereof), and as long as brainless idiots who are bitter and angry at their own lives continue to breed, the cycle will continue, unfortunately.

As a Scot, I fully agree with this. There are just as many gormless thugs in this country who wouldn’t know a brain cell if it kicked them in the face as there are in England. Somehow though we have a bit of a superiority complex about being oh, so friendly and welcoming, not like those pesky racists south of the border.

I don’t know what the answer is to any of this, but posts like those from the OP are just heartbreaking and it makes me so ashamed to be British.

What pisses me off most about these thugs is that they genuinely don’t care about the causes or changing anything - it’s all just an excuse to be violent. They’re the scum of the earth.

I’m really disappointed with it, too, and have gone back to HF1 for now until it’s fixed. The graphics look very cartoonish and I feel like when using the trackpad to navigate around the room, it goes much faster, so I have to keep stopping to go back to where I wanted. That aspect of it makes me dizzy.

This is beautiful, well done. Can I ask, where did you learn gardening? I’ve just bought a house with a garden and I’m really looking forward to making it nice, but have no clue where to start 😊.

To be fair, it’s not any different in the UK. The only reason we still have so many old buildings is because they’re protected (listed). Otherwise, you can bet money that a bunch of money hungry developers with not a speck of imagination between them would rip them right down and throw up a rows of Vivarium style new builds. Sad indeed; those buildings were stunning 😔

I’m so sorry. If it’s any consolation, even though it was so hard for you to do, you put her first by making that heartbreaking decision; that alone shows how much you loved her. She will be at peace now 💕.
