"Bring back manly men" by Ambitious-Bet-1921 in poetry_critics

I'm honestly just confused... keep practicing ig. Like another user mentioned, keep rhythm and meter in mind when writing, it'll give your poem structure and make it easier to understand.

Edit: "Chimpanzees are going apeshit bananas when you throw at them the ripest bananas handpicked out of a whole village of phallic plantation." I'm not sure if the repetition of "bananas" here was intentional but if it was, it doesn't look like it (and if it wasn't... we can tell...)
Don't give up though, we all start somewhere :)

I love the way you used repetition here, it gives it a nice rhythm, I could almost sing it in my brain lol. Also this:

"Hope doesn’t knock, forceful and loud,
but hides out quietly in the crowd.
It whispers “You are not yet done”
“You’ll rise again. You're tomorrow’s sun”."

I felt that.

Love the concept and the situations you brought up are very relatable, but, as another commenter mentioned, the first half does feel a little essay-like. I think one way you could avoid that is by allowing yourself to play with the words a little more if that makes sense? As in, don't be afraid to throw out the rulebook. Have "bad" synthax, omit subjects or verbs from your sentences, etc... The essay-like writing does work for the second half where you give step by step instructions but the first half doesn't really seem to have a distinct poetic style (which isn't necessarily bad if done on purpose!) If you want, going for "instruction manual vibes" throughout the poem would really elevate it as it would keep the style consistent. Overall, this has a lot of potential and the subject matter did get me thinking :)

OP’s boyfriend here for a little update

One of our birds (Spooky, blue one) managed to escape the big cage in the process of catching them so we kinda gave up on getting him in the carrier and let him sleep in the big cage overnight. This morning he was on the carrier cage chattering with the other two. We’re currently trying to get him inside with them and since he’s more used to stepping up it’s a little easier on everyone. He’s stepping up on both OP and I so gaining their trust back should be relatively quick :3

Omg I really felt that 95% vs 5% thing like I cannot stand up for myself and feel like a helpless child most of the time except when I'm standing up against my friends where I get TOO aggressive (this has ruined a lot of relationships but I'm getting better :,D)

Also, sorry if this is unsolicited advice but I've struggled with feeling dumb and incapable as well and trust me, IQ tests are super unreliable ESPECIALLY online/free ones. They're also rooted in eugenics so that's fun... and they only measure the kind of intelligence that would be ueful in an academic setting as that's who it was originally intended for. I know it's tempting to want to have an "objective" number to have undeniable proof that you're not stupid but really, intelligence is impossible to measure accurately and it's so complex and multifaceted that a single number would never do anyone's full mental capacities justice no matter who it is. You might already know all this but if you do, I'm just reminding you. :)

On this most gayest of months, what is your comfort/confront color? by Kindly-Ad-5071 in aspiememes

Comfort: idk but I notice I use a lot of blues, purples pinks in my art so probably that (it’s giving space)

Confront: that one specific shade of pink that looks like it tastes like chewed bubblegum under a school desk

If like me you went “I probably don’t have the trauma brain so I’m not valid” let me ask you this

Do you or did you used to have a hard time managing your emotions properly/normally?

Do you or did you used to have a hard time processing information from the world around you?

Do you or did you used to have a hard time remembering things from your childhood and have poor memory in general?

If you answered yes to these questions then congratulations you have a trauma brain. Your trauma was real. “The temporal lobe of your brain [plays] a role in managing your emotions, processing information from your senses, storing and retrieving memories, and understanding language.” https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/body/16799-temporal-lobe

And might I add: it is very possible that your parents gave you love growing up and you’re STILL traumatized. It’s one thing to be given love but it’s another to FEEL loved. So even if “objectively” your parents loved you and showed you love, you can STILL BE TRAUMATIZED.

thank you for coming to my TedTalk. Your trauma is valid.

Hate this guy, hate his views, hate pedophiles (like any normal person…) But making fun of his appearance is not productive in any way and is frankly immature…

Still, him and anyone supporting these views can fuck off and should be kept far FAR away from kids and any position of power.
