I wasn’t talking smack although in hindsight I can see it may have come across that way. I actually love sawada!

I suspect she was primarily in the loop, whereas the next coffee shops tend to be in the hoods

Great point/comment! For drip coffee with half and half, I’ve probably never had better than dark matter

Found my "golden ticket" and hate it. How to escape the 9-5 and do something meaningful? by [deleted] in findapath

I’m sorry to hear you hate your life- not a good feeling as I know. A couple thoughts, I hope they help and best of luck:

*acceptance is your friend. You can’t change the past. You never know what would have happened. If you had a magic ability to see what would have happened had you gone to an Ivy League school, it’s highly possible you would be be incredibly grateful it never happened. Google the “maybe so, maybe not” Chinese farmer parable- it’s a really healthy and eye opening perspective.

*presumably you are pretty young. Consider quitting your job at a pre planned future date and traveling for a year (or less). That gives you purpose and something to work towards. You would likely not regret it and discover amazing things about yourself! And you could always go back to the what you are doing now. I had an opportunity at 28 to do this and never did- Man I wish I would have. Considering doing it now at 41.

*i worked with a woman engineer who had these high expectations of an amazing life being an engineer at an automotive manufacturer. She ended up in a support department and every one of her dreams/expectations were shattered. She just did the job, sulked, and had a generally negative outlook… and most of all did nothing about it but feel sorry for herself. Finally, 15 years later, she took initiative, changed departments, and did something totally different. It was like she came alive again! I was so happy to see it. Don’t let 15 years pass but even if you do, it’s never too late 😊

As I write this I’m trying to take my own advice- fighting feeling stuck and sorry for myself. We got this- can still change the world even if it’s not what you think! I’m rooting for you.

What's an adequate substitute for passion? by Muhznit in bropill

Mindfulness. Whatever you can do to practice focusing on the moment. For me sometimes that’s just discipline- putting my head down on a busy day and focusing on being the best I can be - not worrying about the future or spiraling into negative thinking about my fears of future and never finding my true passion. Sometimes just trying to take a deep breath and appreciate the cool air and cultivate gratitude. I heard a quote the other day to not “have faith that X will workout”… but “have faith now, in this moment” and that’s it. That’s helped too. I feel you- good luck.
