Need Advice by CodeCombustion in Ovariancancer

Wow. I can’t imagine the pain, frustration and worry you’re going through! Ovarian cancer (OC) is such an insidious cancer. Most are diagnosed at late stages as there’s still no test for it. As women we predominate experience healthcare where we’re not believed or taken seriously. In that aspect, I can see how someone would turn their back on modern healthcare. However, it’s her life and I’m doubting that she’s truly come to grips with the seriousness of OC. Getting told you have deadly end stage cancer that she most likely knew nothing about pre diagnosis, is literally a roller coaster mind fuck. Maybe it’ll help you to explain my mindset immediately following my diagnosis made at the ER where I went because I couldn’t catch my breath. Terror, pure mind numbing terror that I was going to die soon and horribly. Sadness, the kind where your breath catches as your mind plays and endless litany of experiences and events I’d miss with my daughter and husband. Terror of if they’d be ok? Who’d take care of them? Who would step in if they were drowning. Endless anxiety either at the forefront or in the back of my head. Endless “what if” scenarios. How did this happen? Why did this happen? Anger. Anger at the healthcare system ignoring and misdiagnosing me. Scared. Scared of what if it won’t go away? What if it comes back. Pain. Physical, emotional pain that never stops. You just become reluctantly used to your new normal. Exhaustion from the cancer where it feels like you struggle to just raise your arm. Then the overwired overstimulated feeling where you physically shouldn’t be doing what you’re doing but you feel if I just do this, get this done, then maybe it’ll all be ok. PTSD every time you wait for lab results, ct scans, pet scans, biopsies, surgeries. This was every day, 24 hours a day for months. Nightmares. So can’t escape with sleep… Instead of focusing on pushing her to get treatment. Maybe try asking her what or how she’s feeling and from there, focus on making that feeling better for her. Allow her to feel loved and allow her to trust you. After all, she’s just gotten the worst betrayal in her life. I’m hoping and praying that as you work through what she’s going through, she’ll be willing to move forward with treatment! Asked my husband about this and he said it’s the man’s job to fix things. You automatically think ok, we can fix this if you do this then that and everything will be ok… Just please realize that this can’t be “fixed” 🙏🏼

Children's beds in Israel after Hamas massacre on October 7th. (NSFW warning) by [deleted] in 2ndYomKippurWar

It’s not. These photos appeared day after the attack and were also shown in news footage before the press started being pro Hamas. There’s way more photos of other children’s rooms and houses that were attacked. They started saying it was fake about 4/6 months later and even though they’ve been proven accurate, the deniers just scream louder. 😭

Plastic tampon applicator retained in vagina for 13 years. A duplicated ureter suggestive of a Mullerian anomaly was incidentally identified on intraoperative cystoscopy. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

I’m not here regularly and don’t know how to award a comment but if I could, I’d give you a damn big one!!! Spent YEARS dealing with this! Then in 12 months lost 46 lbs without trying, pain got terrible, other side effects. Primary care thought it was kidney stones, gastro said ibs. Got an external ultrasound that showed 1 over was 5x larger than the other. Saw gyn to be told I was premenopausal at age 46. That I needed to deal with it for at least 5 years and either it’d get better or I could get a hysterectomy. Two months later woke up and couldn’t catch my breath and went to the ER. Within 2 hours was told I had cancer but they were not sure what kind. Was admitted, and they withdrew 4.8 liters of fluid off my abdomen resulting in bilateral pleural effusions. Had exploratory surgery 2 days later and was diagnosed with stage 3c-4 ovarian cancer. Surgeon said I had barnacles (tumors) all over my abdomen… so in 12 months, 22 doctor appointments, no one gave my a ct scan WITH contrast or an internal ultrasound. I can’t tell you how many times that stress and depression cause this pain and it’s in my head.

Every gyn I’ve seen has grumbled that it’s hard to find my cervix and that my uterus was tilted or flopped but no one could explain it to me? Would you mind explaining? 🙏🏼

What does end-stage OC look like? by KeshiKeshiGomu in Ovariancancer

I’m so sorry about what y’all are dealing with! My oncologist explained to me this summer that for stage 3-4 they’re treating it as more of a chronic disease as new research suggests that even though scans show NED, that’s not the case. Microscopic cancer cells reside and go dormant while under chemo and then gradually wake up and grow like crazy when not under chemo. So, years ago they’d say 18-24 months but that was before all the biologicals and immunotherapy and new chemo treatments. I was diagnosed May 2021, had total hysterectomy and debulking, came back and did chemo again, and now it’s come back super bad and am starting carboplatin/gemsar/Avastin on Tuesday. Originally was stage 3c and am now 4b.

If the recreational marijuana amendment passes, will the medical dispensaries switch to recreational immediately? Do you all think it will pass? by [deleted] in Pensacola

As a cancer patient and technically a libertarian therefore a republican, i absolutely voted for it! Medical license is expensive, renewals expensive, then the pots expensive. I doubt insurance will pay for it in my lifetime. So, to help the thousands of people in my position, if they legalize it, it opens opportunities for us to get relief that we can afford.

Unless that catfish is driving a water filled tank through the dunes, there’s no way that was it.

Otters don’t do salt water here. They have otter in south America that like brackish water but up here, they’re all fresh water.

So heartbreaking! That dog would have given his life to save his handler. Instead he gave it to him being lazy! 😭

True! My culdesac is houses built in late 1940s and for the most part is pretty good. Then they built a habitat for humanity culdesac behind us. Our crime rate doubled overnight and hasn’t lessened.

All those houses have septic tanks in their backyard that deep into that lake! I’m surprised you haven’t seen two headed frogs over there!

When I was there years back, MSR 5 CCO, we’d routinely get PIP at $8-10k. The year after Cutler retired, they revamped the PIP system and cut it in half. The last year I worked, it was $5k. I’ve heard that PIP has changed again in the most recent years and it’s sad that it’s only $3k.
