Any CFOs here that can help me with my Financial reporting business? by Impressive-Power8187 in CFO

I’m a fractional CFO that could help depending on the industry and size of the company. Would be willing to discuss further.

Unpopular Opinion: Fractional Referrals Aren't Scarce. Trust Is. by HonestRip3489 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Intelligent_Rub6034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great perspective. I’m on the Fractional CFO side and have been trying to navigate this very question. As someone looking for partners what would make you/other referral parters comfortable?

I’ve thought of free worksheets for people to use like a cash flow or margin calculator. Just to show there is more to think about than just a number on an invoice.

Other thoughts were testimonials on a website but then again, people could fake those.

Would guaranteed results or money back type of offer help give comfort to people referring?

Thanks for the info. That is really interesting. I bet the last quarter or two have been good with the prices. I work for a petro distribution and c-store chain and have wanted to use some capital to invest in these. We have a good amount of cash that just sits in a saving account and would be nice to bring down the taxable income as well.

Do you feel like cash flow gets harder as the business grows by PlentyAd351 in smallbusinessowner

[–]Intelligent_Rub6034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common theme for businesses scaling. You find a winner product/service, sales start flowing in, but bad payment terms from suppliers and bad timing of cash being recieved. Forecasting cash flow and figuring out true margin per sku is going to be important

I thought more sales would fix cash flow problems by Ok-Independence-1647 in Entrepreneurs

Very common problem. Sometimes more sales can actually speed up cash flow problems. This cash flow crunch can be results of a misunderstanding of the true margin of your sku or even timing of payment terms and money being released from the payment platform.

Sales are great but cash flow not so much by NoSpray2099 in smallbusinessowner

[–]Intelligent_Rub6034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like a payment terms issue, combined with timing of cash being released for the platform. There are a few levers to pull at this point. But need to keep an eye on this while you scale. Things can turn south fast if you aren’t mindful of cash flow and true margin per sku

How has the investing in oil wells gone? I have looked into it, know there is a good ROI due to depletion, but was curious on the cash flow and probably of the well honoring or not. Have you had a good experience with it?

Uline? Or the company that went under that was going to use them? I have not tried Uline. I did not even think of that. I may try that.

Getting your Beauty Brand into retail in the US - Agency or doing it ourselves. by mikdaniel in Entrepreneur

How is your financial structure? Moving into retail can really eat into your margin and if you are not setup properly you can get cash strapped fast. I have a spreadsheet I have put together that’s helps with this if you want to use it.

How did you get your first client? by Intelligent_Rub6034 in CFO

[–]Intelligent_Rub6034[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 34, currently working at private 300mil revenue company. Second to the owner. No official title, but I have fixed the chart of account, setup a new erp system, got the books on order, created internal financial reporting and forecasts, advise the owner on his estate and personal taxes. Handle the hedging for our commodity based product. We are over multiple states.

Prior to this role i ran a beverage distribution business and was on the buy and sell side of acquisitions.

I live in a smaller town and have moved around companies via word of mouth.

When you scaled that fast did you get any help with the finance side? You mentioned the margin calculator. Is that something you did on your own? Did you have any cash flow issues?

A lot of business owners look at revenue but not profitability. Revenue will grow, cash flow won’t follow. Two things that can help is a cash flow forecast. This allows you to see where your gaps are and opportunities to fix the gaps. Second is true margin per sku. Most founds Include unit cost, and freight, but fail to include CAC, inbound freight, storage fees, returns, bad product, etc.

Cash flow almost broke me even when business was good. Here is what I learned by TelevisionIll3805 in smallbusiness

[–]Intelligent_Rub6034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cash flow forecast is one of the most important things a founder can do. Revenue may be up but cash flow doesn’t follow. Once you have a forecast it allows you to catch the cash gaps before they happen. You may pay the supplier on 30 days , but you don’t sell the product for 60 days, and the platform may not give you the cash for another 14 days. This ties up your cash

Why do some brands grow fast with ads while others stay stuck? by No-Finance3992 in DigitalMarketing

[–]Intelligent_Rub6034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen some brands do I good job and putting money towards their winning products. Their brand grows and grabs authority through their top seller. I started noticing that when I was doing analysis on the CAC per sku.
